Facebook is making it harder for brands to advertise on your News Feed in an attempt to cut down on the number of “overly promotional Page posts.”
The social network giant
announced on Friday that starting this January, Pages that post “promotional creative should expect their organic distribution to fall significantly over time.”
Facebook said it polled its users and found that people wanted to see less promotional content from Pages that they liked. The company discovered three common types of “promotional” posts:
- Posts that solely push people to buy a product or install an app
- Posts that push people to enter promotions and sweepstakes with no real context
- Posts that reuse the exact same content from ads
