Facebook has been acquiring a lot of
companies over the past couple of months. That includes the photo sharing software platform Instagram which Facebook
recently bought for $1 billion. Today, it was revealed that Facebook has bought yet another company with a similar name; Face.com.
Launched in 2007 in Israel, Face.com offers
software for both desktop and mobile products that can scan a photo to identify a person or persons in that photo. This kind of software would seem to be a perfect match for Facebook, which lets its users "tag" their friends in their photos; specific financial details about this new acquisition were not revealed.
