I am having a crash from explorer.exe everyday. I am not sure what is going on or how to check for error messages. Any help would be great.

Hmm, carefully following the BSOD sticky should furnish us with enough information to begin tracking it down: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/bs...d-posting-instructions-windows-8-7-vista.html don't miss the part about running the app as Administrator from the right-click.

Did you install anything new, update Windows or uninstall software during the sessions leading up to the start of this?

When does it happen, when you're actively using Explorer or does it also happen when left alone?

And does it recover by itself, or do you have to reboot? Does it crash several times during the day, or just once?

I haven't had a crash in a couple of days. I went back and thought about all the programs I was using when the crash happened. I checked one of the games that I played and it appeared to be missing a file. After downloading the file I haven't had anymore crashes. Which subsequently caused a reboot of the computer.

Well I was wrong it didn't fix the problem. I will download the app and run it tonight and post back with the results.

Hmm, in the collected files that I'm reasonably familiar with/experienced in, I'm not seeing anything I could directly link to Explorer crashes. The System looks pretty clean.

For a Device Manager cleanup, I'd want to see the 2x non-installed devices updated, USB (3?) and SM Bus controller (the latter should install with updated chipset drivers from Intel).

I see what looks like a Google Update crash during the (then) current session; I'd backup Bookmarks and saved passwords, uninstall Chrome, reboot and reinstall the latest version.

There's a .dll I'm not familiar with loaded, it appears to be part of, probably, an MSI motherboard utility. These types of utilities are often problematic for a number of users; for troubleshooting purposes, it's better to uninstall the utility - some info here, I don't see it listed in Start/Programs: icclibdll_x64.dll - Should I Block It? I think we need someone more comfortable with scanning the EVTX logs and WER section to look in - they make me go cross-eyed, any takers?

I used to analyze logs almost daily in the Air Force. Not fun when all I wanted was a soldering iron in one hand and a meter probe in the other. For that reason, I never got into analyzing HJT logs [voluntarily], and respectfully decline your generous (? ;)) offer.

I have fixed the problem. I was having problems with my video card freezing and I thought it was an explorer.exe crash. I have fixed it with an install of the latest beta drivers.

I don't like using beta drivers, but some times that is the only recourse. You might contact the maker and tell them the beta driver worked to find out when the release version of the driver will come out.

BTW, where did you get the driver, from the GPU maker or the card maker? I ask because I prefer getting drivers from the card maker, and not directly from AMD or NVIDIA. This is because the card makers often tweak the GPU and graphics chipsets so they can advertise this or that "enhancement" over competing card makers using the same GPU and graphics chipset.
