Hello All,
My computer details are as follows:
- OS - Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
- This is the original OS and it is an OEM version
- Age of system and OS installation: July 12, 2016
- Desktop computer
- Manufacturer: HP
- Processor: AMD A6-5400B APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
- Display adapter: AMD Radeon HD 7540D
I try to summarize my current problem as follows:
1. The system got stuck forever during the reboot after installing Windows Update KB4088875 (2018-Mar monthly update) on March 14, 2018.
2. After performing hard-restart (PowerOff/PowerOn) + CHKDSK, the system started normally,
and there were no errors in the EventViewer system log.
3. The next few Windows Updates (between Mar 15 and Apr 11) did not appear on the list of available updates,
so I have another thread open related to this issue.
4. As a preparatory step for troubleshooting the Windows Update problem,
on Apr 12, 2018 I installed Macrium Reflect free edition Version 7 and performed a disk image backup, stored on an external hard disk.
5. On Apr 13, 2018 the Windows Update KB4093118 (2018-Apr monthly update) did however arrive,
but was unable to install correctly and it keeps appearing on the list of available updates.
6. Starting from this point, the EventViewer system log shows a continuous seria of the following two warnings,
which are repeating every minute:
Warning EventID=136
The default transaction resource manager on volume C: encountered an error while starting and its metadata was reset.
The data contains the error code.
1C00040002003000020000008800048000000000060019C000000000000000000000000000000000060019C0
Error EventID=137
The default transaction resource manager on volume C: encountered a non-retryable error and could not start.
The data contains the error code.
1C0004000200300002000000890004C000000000010100C000000000000000000000000000000000010100C0
The usual steps that are suggested for solving these errors did not help.
7. I also tried to perform a system restore, but it failed with the following error:
0x80071a91 - ERROR_RM_NOT_ACTIVE
This is probably the same error because of which the last Windows Update is not able to be installed.
8. During the last 4 days (from Apr 18 to Apr 21) the machine started to encounter unexpected shutdowns.
It happened 4 times up to how, each time with the same error reported:
Bug Check String : INVALID_KERNEL_HANDLE
Bug Check Code : 0x00000093
9. I suspect that all the problems are related to the Disk Image backup that I performed on Apr 12,
because the repeated warnings never appeared before this.
I have disabled the Macrium Reflect service, but the two alerts continue to appear in the EventViewer System log.
10. The SFC /SCANNOW and CHKDSK (with both checkboxes checked) do NOT report any errors.
Attached is the ZIP file created based on the posting instructions Step 1.
I would be grateful if you have any clue about what might have gone wrong.
Since I was NOT able to restore the system to an existing restore point, performing any further troubleshooting steps
might be problematic and I will probably need the help of my computer technician.
Thanks a lot in advance & Best Regards,
Iudith
