Whoomp there it is, I'm back again >.>

I recently reformatted my drive using Windows 8.1 on June 22 , because I was already having lots of BSOD's whenever a game crashed. Well, people already know me here and I've been swapping Nvidia drivers like I do socks, pretty much every day to see which one will "stick."

June 8 previous build of Windows w/BSOD -- See next post for Today's Sysnative attachment, it has NO BSOD though.
View attachment SysnativeFileCollectionApp_June82016.zip

Now the bSODS are all gone, any game I play will simply crash and my computer will reboot. I do not get a BSOD warning anymore.
But if u take a look at the screencaps from event viewer, you will see that ESENT says there's some Faulty Hardware and then some sort of Catastrophic failure is predicted.

I have installed all the WIN updates until it has said "no updates are available." That is around 300 updates . I have done my best to install latest drivers from MSI motherboard and Nvidia drivers well, that's a crapshoot.
I'm using 368.22 right now, but I've used 10 other drivers recently.

So what hardware is faulty? I'm tired of my computer crashing. My warranty on my GPU is still in tact, but if there's an issue i need to bring it up to MSI soon or it may expire for a replacement.

Whocrashed? was right before I decided to reformat my PC, it also points to Nvidia. I'm really done trying 10 different drivers and cleaning methods. I'm on a fresh install and this shouldn't happen. There's something else such as hardware
or something interacting with the GPU.

OK! Nevermind! I just got myself a BSOD.

I was playing Overwatch when this happened..a good killing spree lost >.>
I've already been through 10 iterations of DDU cleaner and installing different drivers. What else can i do? I hear Realtek Lan conflicts with Nvidia..but that would make the 2nd most used configuration out there.

On Sat 6/25/2016 7:08:03 AM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\062516-3906-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: nvlddmkm.sys (0xFFFFF8000A022C5A)
Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0xCC, 0x2, 0x0, 0xFFFFF8000A022C5A)
Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\nvlddmkm.sys
product: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 368.22
company: NVIDIA Corporation
description: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 368.22
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 368.22 , NVIDIA Corporation).

Rootkit-Hidden object -Can't boot PC !! Help

Hey my other thread was getting 0 attentoin so now my computer is in a state of dying. I really need help!
Then it was urgent, but now i can't open my computer to give out more details. I really don't know if this related to my computer crashes, but a hidden object ROOTKIT demands full attention .

1. Event viewer is showing random crashes at night with KERNEL POWER unexpectedly lost. (POSSIBLE PSU death?) I have an ANTEC 850W so I don't know, i thought that was trustworthy?
2. Avira is showing hidden objects and identified as a rootkit or similar device. During the scan, the computer crashed and now i can't restart the computer
to even see a BIOS screen . It just says b4 in bottom right corner

Now I can't give you anymore details because I can't even access my computer!! See my other thread please :banghead:

I haven't had a hidden object since 2006 and a year after that, AV programs finally gave them the boot. Back then it was extremely difficult to remove, even 3 reformats couldn't kill it (with repetitive overpass function).

Possible cause:
Bought WIndows 8.1 from G2a.com, a 3rd party reseller. The usb boot disk could possibly contain the rootkit

That's what I was thinking.

Since the Windows installation is so new, reinstall Windows using --> Windows 8

... and see if crashes continue.

NOTE: I am recovering from major surgery (double hip replacement) and may not be able to promptly reply to your thread. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Scratch that what was I thinking? G2a only sells KEYS, not files. God, I'm so out of rest that i've lost my mind ! :hysterical:

I will pray for your surgery and speedy recovery! Take care ;D :thumbsup2:

OK i just noticed my threads were merged. So the rootkit is related then? Anyways, after keeping my pc powered down and removing the power cable from the tower, I was able to boot to the desktop.
So with this limited time window, what should i do before it crashes again?

You just installed Windows 3 days ago. If you believe you have a rootkit - reinstall Windows.

I merged the threads simply because we're dealing with the same system.

Hey again:
Well let me revise some history of my PC. I have had BSOD errors since January . I was on Win 8.1 where I had ONE bsod, in a year period. I ignored it since it said something like "since this is your first bsod ..might not be a big deal or something." So then come March, I installed Windows 10.. I then had noticed major lag , dpc latency and then finally BSOD crashes . I was in a thread for good long time troubleshooting ! Then I decided enough was enough and revert to win 8.1

I was ok for about a month, but then I got BSODs again. So i figured that going to WIn 10 and back to 8.1 was very UNCLEAN so I decided to reformat the HDD. I made sure it was wiped a few times before proceeding.
When I barely got back , immediately when I got into a game, I got BSOD..

So how is reinstalling windows AGAIN gonna solve this BSOD? I figure there's something major and that's not going to solve it, but hey I'm just trying to figure this out.
That is 3x installing Windows in a short time. So my previous build was from end of May to June 22.
So I need to diagnose
my hardware or something (hardware/software) that is configured incorrectly.

I just completed some scans and ASK.com toolbar (not that I found this anywhere on my computer) was installed but then removed by Adwcleaner. This program is a very malicious so might have been it. Well system is "online" for the last 4 hours or so after the cleaning.

Thanks again for your time and may God's mighty hand get you healed soon! :grin1:
Btw, how did you injure your hip? Are you an athlete? Sounds really really painful :eek4:

I went through my power settings and then Event viewer some more as per research in other threads. I have noticed that all of my crashes relate to KERNEL POWER event 41. I know I have a lot of types of errors, but this one comes up with just about every crash.
Another page suggested me change some settings for hybrid and hibernate sleep. I also made sure to set off my XMP profile since my computer is being unstable at the moment. Then some users ssaid they had to replace the PSU to make these
errors go away. I have an ANTEC 850w HCG.

I will update you . But also please advise whenever time allows , thx :) :thumbsup2:

UPDATE: I have opened up a program, 10x and each time my computer has crashed and reset. Everything from Rammon, to Hitman pro, to process explorer.. no program can be opened now without a penalty.
Whocrashed still points to Nvidia.

I need to mention one more symptom my comptuer has had over the past 6 months.

Screen would flicker 4 or 5 times every once an hour: It would make a hardware connected sound then hardware disconnect.

The best reference I can compare this to is, the exact same thing that happens when you install a new graphics driver: the Nvidia software would black out and flicker and then make those sounds. However, this happens all the time as If i was trying to install a new driver but I'm actually not.

Other forums keep suggesting that Power supply is not supplying enough power to GPU so it will then cause a video card error and a crash/kernel power. This makes a lot of sense to me. What do you think?

I'm trying to run OCCT but the program keeps saying "starting" instead of keeping in a started state.

Anyways, I just forwarded all my info to ANTEC for my 750 HCGm psu. (in case of warranty replacement).

I made a typo above and I meant I have a 750, not 850. But anyways thats way more than enough just for my very basic , non -sli, non multi processor, single SSD pc.

On another note, Avira doesn't do anything about the "hidden objects", it finishes up the scan and then says 0 viruses found. I think once I get all the hardware troubles and driver issues being sorted out, i will then reformat once more. But it won't change anything at all for bsods, as every time I reformat, the BSODS are still there.

Btw, Should I try to run Driver verifier?

I suggested that you reinstall Windows because of your mention of a rootkit. It would be a waste of time to send you to security to deal with the rootkit when reinstalling Windows would do it.

If your BSODs point to NVIDIA and driver updates are not solving the issue, then perhaps the video card is bad.

To answer your question, a PSU is always suspect in BSODs. Whether or not yours needs to be replaced - unknown.

Where did you get the Windows ISO from?

I am far from a hardware expert. I've never built a system and only opened a laptop up to replace a HDD + RAM. This is the reason that I'm unable to answer hardware-specific questions -- I simply do not know.

I don't know anything about OCCT or the reason your screen would flicker.

Kernel power 41 errors simply record the fact that the system shut down unexpectedly (i.e., not selecting "shut down" in Windows). It is therefore a benign error.

I would suggest that you reset your power settings to default.

Yes, you can run Driver Verifier. If it flags a driver, it will BSOD your system.

Regards. . .

p.s. Yes, I was athletic in my younger days, but no one can tell me why both hips would need replacement before age 50.

With the PSU that you have according to your first post it shouldn't be the case, a 850W PSU that works properly is more than enough for many systems. A 650W PSU should do the job too in many situations.
Unless your PSU is faulty or something else is wrong, like a loose cable, it isn't the cause.

Axe0: Well, that's what i mean. IF my PSU is FAULTY, therefore it wouldn't supply correct amounts of power (fluctuate/fail). It's an ANTEC so it would be surprising, but I can't rule it out. Btw its actually 750w but still, thats way more than enough as we know ;)

Jcgriff2: I have driververifier running from 545pm PST w/restore pt activated. In 24 hours, I will see what the outcome is. I will not try to run any games or apps , but allow the PC to produce its own positives. I guess that means I will need to make power setting to not turn off the system at night.

I ran Unigen Heaven benchmark for about 2 hours but nothing bad happened. That's strange, since any game I run for 10-30min will crash. Also the longest that my system has been up. Something else is involved, input device or driver, config etc. i still find it really weird that i have over 3000 ESENT errors since my reinstall. I can certainly get this to crash again any time with any game I choose or trying to open an app like Rammon (not even starting a benchmark).

for POWER: Does it matter if min. processor state is 5%? Doesn't the PC know when to boost it when running games or heavy apps automatically and no intervention is needed?

^ Thanks for that tip, I had a hunch that would be the answer :)

UPDATE: Main problem for my COMPUTER IS FIXED !
For 32 hours my pc has not had a BSOD, even though I tried to force one. Driver verifier found no errors and did not bsod. The critical errors had completely stopped .

CriticalErrors_reduced.jpg
Notice critical errors stopped from 7 a day to 0 . Esent errors still 2000+ a day though.

SOLUTION:

After the first 30 minutes of running driver verifier, I had done some more research to expedite my process:

Uninstalled and remove every USB device inside of Device Manager. I then rebooted the computer. Windows upon reboot had reinstalled the drivers, replacing any corrupt versions.
I had to do this in stages, as it also removed my keyboard and mouse, so I just took note of which ones I had to do after next reboot.
I think I saw this at some techspot microsoft blog with a user who replied to "SCREEN FLICKERING, connect and disconnect sound." This symptom was the key to understanding the main problem. From then on, I ran Heaven benchmark for 2 hours,
then I played Doom for an hour and opened up various programs like Rammon, OCCT, Photoshop and did various tasks, ran videos and topped out tabs and ran multi tasks. I couldn't get the computer to crap out.

At the end of the final stretch, I ran Battlefield 4, then Overwatch for 2 hours and OBS recording software at the same time but my PC did well.
NVIDIA driver has stopped crashing and whocrashed, minidumps are now 2 days old. This also stopped Kernel Power errors as well.

Reason for problem?
Theory
1. Possibly visited a website that seems "safe" yet some trojan infected the USB drivers
2. Possible windows update had incorrect usb drivers for system (Yes, i had to rollback on some occasions from Bad windows updates)
3. Possible MSI had corrupted driver from website (I once had broken drivers from Realtek and MSI, so its quite possible).

But how is my usb related to Nvidia driver? I have no idea, but I assume that whenever I move my mouse around in a game, the corrupted driver just screws up the interaction and the Video card just says NOPE! The mouse and the visuals do not sync and shut down. Mouse behavior could really screw up any application. But I'm just pulling guesses out of my ***!

UNRESOLVED, but unsure how it affects overall performance:
Part 2: ESENT errors. Well I tried even installing SQL server just so I could try to access some settings, but I don't have permission to even open up the folders on my HDD where ESENT wants to write to. This problem is NOT solved.
The thing is that I don't even use Sql server. I think my problems are due to having Win PRO, so its complaining about pro features but I don't even use them.

Tells you to go toSystem32>logfiles>sum. But my computer does not have a foldersuch as that!

10. Tryrunning these commands from an elevated command prompt, pressingEnter after each line:
DISM.exe/Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
sfc/scannow

“thecomponent store corruption was repaired” -Possibly the Antivirusdestroyed it.

Thank Jesus this is finally working out

The flickering screen + hardware disconnect/reconnect sounds suggest a TDR 0x117 has taken place, not sure how this ties in here though.
