I have a few updates that are hanging. They're old updates, and I don't understand why so many just installed fine the other day (140 ish). I ran the SURT several times, and followed info below to correct the registry entries related to orphaned updates.

I used info here in example 4:
System Update Readiness Tool - CheckSur.log File Analyzis - Windows 7 Help Forums

I've made progress, but still have 12 updates that won't install. I came across this forum, and you guys appear to be the experts at making sense out of the logs.

Code:
SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.Start time: 2018-12-24 11:36:50.351
Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - amd64
Not using a script file.

Hello and welcome!

FRST Registry Search
1. Click your Start button and choose Control Panel.
2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
3. Select the Programs group.
4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Windows Features dialog. Wait until this dialog populates with information. If this does not happen for some reason, please continue with the steps anyway.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps.
5. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
6. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
7. Copy and paste
KB2534366 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
8. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please attach this to your next reply. It is saved on your desktop named SearchReg.txt.
9. You may close any remaining open windows now.

I meant to post back, but I figured it out....
I dug around here and noticed that after the checksur.log, that the next place was the CBS.log. In the CBS.log I saw the same KB you're referencing as being in a error state. I ran WUSA /uninstall /KB:2534366 from a command prompt, and then downloaded it and reinstalled. All the 7 or 8 Windows updates installed. However, this didn't fix the Office updates that had the other error. After not seeing anything in the logs for them I decided to try uninstalling / reinstalling Office. I had to use the Office removal tool, or whatever MS calls it these days. Once I got Office removed, I reinstalled it, and then there were probably 50 updates that came down in a few batches. However, at this point I think the machine is fully up-to-date.

Is there any point messing with Farbar at this point?

For future reference how do I troubleshoot Office updates?

Even though I solved it myself, I wouldn't have done so without exploring the forums here. Thanks!
