[SOLVED] Error when trying to update to windows 10

I'm running Windows 7, and have been having bugs for a a while now - windows explorer crashes, programs fail to open, java keeps crashing etc. It seems to be some problem with the OS files, but I haven't managed to figure out what it is. Running SFC hasn't helped.

I hoped that a problem with the OS might be solved by updating to windows 10, something I wanted to do in any case. However, when I try to install the windows 10 update, it downloads, but then fails with the error code C0000374

I tried running SFCFix, but that didn't find anything.

For some reason I can't get the file upload to work, so I attach below the text of the SFCFix file.

Thanks. I'd like one more updated log. Please do the following.

SFC Scan

1. Click on the Start
   
   button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each
   
   sfc /scannow
   
   Wait for this to finish before you continue
   
   copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

• Download MiniToolBox and move the executable file to your Desktop;
• Right-click on MiniToolBox.exe and select
  
  Run as Administrator;
• Check the following options:
  • List Installed Programs;
  • List Last 10 Event Viewer Errors;
    
    
• Once this is done, click on Go and wait for the scan to complete;
• Once the scan is complete, a log will open. Please copy/paste the content of the output log in your next reply;

Thanks for the info. Please download and run the Compatibility assistant for Windows 8.1. I realize we are upgrading to Windows 10 but I would like to see what this assistance says about the ability to update to 8.1.

I'm a little wary of uninstalling MSE, as it is my anti-virus. Is it essential?

It's an appropriate troubleshooting step. Once Windows 10 is on, Windows Defender takes the place of MSE as your AV.

OK. Please do the following. You will need a USB Flash drive that you can overwrite.

Please download the Media Creation Tool and save to your desktop. Run it and create the install media on the USB drive.

Once this is done, please reboot your machine into a Clean Boot state by following the instructions at the following article.

Then attempt to perform the upgrade using the USB drive.

If I upgrade to windows 10 from a clean boot will I not lose my saved files?
