[SOLVED] Error codes 800B0100, 8024200D, 9C59

I have an issue installing Windows Updates. The same 14 updates always fail.

I've run various Fixits and also System Update Readyness Checker, also sfc /scannow, all to no avail.

I took at look at SURT's log at %systemroot%\logs\cbs\checkSUR.log and found some errors:

(I hope it's alright to post the log in a code box..? Not sure what the etiquette is here... please accept my apologies if this is not allowed)

I've tried manually installing the mentioned KB but that fails.
I've also tried copying the .cat and .mum files that have the same KB number from a working and up-to-date machine to this machine's Packages folder.


Can anyone help? Reinstalling Windows would be tricky as this machine is in a remote office thousands of miles away.

You did well with the code box, it makes it easier for me to read :)

There are a few issues here, this will take a couple of rounds to repair. We will start of with the corrupt files.

SURT Package replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Click Here to download Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
  5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
  6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

I am afraid I eventually had an opportunity to have someone on-site reinstall windows for me, so the problem was resolved that way.

I'm curious about the package you prepared. How can I learn to prepare such packages myself?
