[SOLVED] Error code 800F0831 Windows Server 2012 R2 standard: KB5023765

Copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your desktop. Zip the copied file and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

Step 1:

  • Download

    SFCFix and move the executable to your desktop.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it on your desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Step 2:
Restart the machine.
Try to install KB5023765 again and report the result.
If it fails attach the file cbs.log to your next reply.

It's succeeded now - I checked the cbs log file and found that KB4516067 was the one that "Failed to resolve package"; so I manually downloaded KB4516067, installed and rebooted.

Then ran updates after the reboot and it installed successfully this time.

Now I'm just running updates as normal. Thanks Peter for your help!
 
I noticed the provided SFCFix.zip was incorrect. Sorry for that.
As the problem is already resolved we can mark this thread as solved.
