Hello,

my name ist Sebastian an I'm from Germany.
First, i want to thank you for your help in advance.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.

My computer isn't able to install any windows updates since 24.05.2013.

When I try to install updates manually, there appears the information that I first need to update "windows update" before searching for new updates. When I try to install this update, there appears the error code 80070308. The course of the updates shows the error code 80070308 for every failed update.

I've run SFC with the following results:

SFCFix version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2015-08-01 16:46:20.412
Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - amd64
Not using a script file.

AutoAnalysis::
SUMMARY: No corruptions were detected.
AutoAnalysis:: directive completed successfully.

Successfully processed all directives.
SFCFix version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro has completed.
Currently storing 0 datablocks.
Finish time: 2015-08-01 16:52:19.404

Then I exported the CBS folder but the CBS logfiles are too large to upload. So they are shortly to follow.

I tried to upload the CBS folder now with the help of niemiros "windows update forum posting instructions - what to do if your CBS logfiles are too large to upload.
I don't know if it worked. I got this message:

Please download and run the Microsoft Windows Update Components Fix-It here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058
Select the aggressive mode when offered.

Restart after the Fix-It has completed, then check for updates. This will take much longer than usual.
If updates are offered, select one and attempt to install it. If the update fails, post back with the KB# and error code.

Attach C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log and C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log with your reply.

Hello zcomputerwiz,

I did exactly what you recommended to me but it didn't work. My computer is still not able to install any updates and the error code is still the same: 80070308 with the information that my computer is not able to search for new updates.
The course of the updates shows that the computer tried to update several things today: For example a safety update for microsoft framework 3.5.1 KB 2656356. This update failed and there appears the error code 80246007.

I can't upload the CBS data because it's too large to upload (15,9 MB even if it's in a zip folder)

Greetings from Germany

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

Download and run the System Update Readiness Tool for your version of Windows here: System Update Readiness Tool

This tool will take some time to complete - when it has finished, attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log with your reply.

Let's try another way of resetting Windows Update:

Run Windows Repairs
1. Download Windows Repair (All-in-One) Portable to your desktop.
2. Once the file is downloaded, right-click on the file on your desktop and choose Extract All...
Extract.JPG

3. Keep the defaults and click the Extract button.
4. A folder named tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio will be extracted to the desktop. Once the extraction is complete the folder will open.
5. Inside this folder, there is a folder named Tweaking.com - Windows Repair. Open this folder as well.

6. Double-click on Repair_Windows.exe to open. Note: Please make sure all of your programs are closed and anything you were working on is saved as we will be rebooting.
7. When the program opens, click the Reboot to Safe Mode button at the bottom of the screen. Answer Yes to allow.
8. Once rebooted into Safe Mode, open the program again. When the program opens, click the Repairs tab and click the Open Repairs button.
9. A backup of your registry will be made. After a few moments you will have many options from which you can choose.
10. Please click the Unselect All button and then click to enable only the following ones:
10 - Remove Policies Set By Infection
14 - Remove Temp Files
17 - Repair Windows Updates

11. Ensure the Restart check box is selected and click the Start Repairs button in the lower right of the screen. This may take some time to run so be patient.
StartRepairsWithReboot.JPG

12. Once the fixes are complete you will be prompted to restart your machine. Answer Yes.

When all that completes, try checking for updates again. This will take much longer than usual.
Pick one update to install. If the update fails attach CBS.log, include the KB# and error code.

Hello,

I did exactly what you recommended to me but my computer still can't do any updates.

When I'm searching for updates, there appears an information that I first need to install an update for "windows update" hence the computer can search for new updates (screenshot 1).
When I click "install now", there appears an error report with the information that my computer isn't able to search for new updates, error code 80070308 (screenshot 2).

You can download the new CBS.log data here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73735173/CBS.zip

Please try the following. If you don't have your Windows 7 DVD, please let me know.

Revert Pending Changes
1. Boot into the Windows RE mode: How to use the Windows 7 System Recovery Environment Command Prompt
2. Once the command Window is displayed please follow the below steps.
3. Type notepad into the command prompt and hit enter.
4. Click the File menu in notepad and choose Open. Click on Computer on the left hand side so that you see all the drive letters. You sill see Boot (X:) and likely others. Look for the drive letter that is associated to Local Disk.
5. Once you've identified the driver letter you may cancel out of this screen and close notepad.
6. Now type the following into the Command Prompt replacing C (shown in red) with the drive letter you identified in bullet#4. Note, there is a space after C:\ as well as before the last forward slash.
DISM /Image:C:\ /Cleanup-Image /RevertPendingActions

7. If all goes well you will see the following as the last few lines. Please let me know if you don't.
Code:
Reverting pending actions from the image...
The operation completed. Any revert of pending actions will be attempted after reboot.
The operation completed successfully.

I don't have the windows DVD because windows 7 was already installed when I bought my laptop.
Would an update to windows 10 be a solution for my problems with windows 7?

Sebastian
