I am getting an error code 1935 not allowing me to download C++ 2005. It is inhibiting me from doing anything and I am not sure what to do. I've searched this up everywhere and tried almost everything, but nothing has seemed to work. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

The error is:
Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly.Microsoft.VC80.MFC.type='win32'.version=' 8.0.50727.42',publickeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",pr ocessorArchitecture="amdx86".
Please refer to Help and Support for more information.

I tried both of these methods, and the SFC gave me: "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service." I also have tried the DISM option and it didn't help either, I am still getting the same problem. DISM gave me:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.19041.844

Image Version: 10.0.19042.1052

[==========================100.0%==========================]
Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

My PC doesn't allow me to update or reset it either, so I'm stuck where it is now. I will try doing the ISO file one, but I don't think it will work.

If you have an account with admin privileges, you can run a repair install or feature update. If you don't, you can't.

There's never any guarantee that a repair install will work, but I always try one before I go the "nuke and pave" route, and have very seldom (once over the time since Windows 10 came on the scene in 2015) had one fail. And that makes sense, based on how it works, which involves replacing as much of Windows 10 as can possibly be replaced without doing a completely clean reinstall.

When a repair install fails, as in it either can't complete, or the system remains significantly impaired afterward, the one and only thing I do (note: I do, not everyone does) is a completely clean reinstall. I never trust an Windows 10 instance that cannot be repaired, as that implies some really nasty and unusual corruption. I'd rather start over again with a known good copy of Windows 10 freshly and cleanly installed using media obtained directly from Microsoft just before doing that install.

How would you fresh install Windows 10? Every time I try to fresh Reset my PC, something blocks it and tells me that the Windows 10 installation has failed. What would be the steps to just wipe my computer completely (I know this may sound basic, but I'm not really well acquainted with this stuff.)

The most efficient repair for the error code is an in place upgrade repair as britechguy commented.

Before the in place upgrade repair uninstall any of these non-Microsoft software:
a) antivirus
b) firewall
c) drive encryption

And place the computer in clean boot before the in place upgrade repair.

These steps typically take care of a lot of the errors preventing a successful in place upgrade.

If the in place upgrade fails then run setupdiag:
SetupDiag - Windows Deployment

If you can reinstall drivers and applications then these are additional methods that do no require log troubleshooting:
a) Windows refresh
b) Reset save files
c) Custom install

If you've already backed up files or if there are no important files then these are options:
a) reset remove files
b) clean install

Once you've got a working operating system you can make free or pay backup images.

Then for problems you can restore an image.

This method works for malware, ransomware, corruption of the operating system, corruption of the registry, corruption of the drive file system, failure to boot, drive failure, etc.

An in place upgrade repair does not work for me as it always quits the installation around 70% of the way through, so I ran SetupDiag and this is what it gave me... I'm not sure what it means, but would you be able to let me know what to do?

setupdiag displayed:
Error: 0x800706ba
Recommend you re-download the update source files, reboot and try the update again.

0x800706ba = The RPC server is unavailable

The steps in the prior post may be able to fix this error:

a) uninstall the non-Microsoft software

b) place the computer in clean boot
How to perform a clean boot in Windows

c) perform an in place upgrade repair
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-windows/35160fbe-9352-4e70-9887-f40096ec3085

If the above work then you're set.

If the above fail then run setupdiag.

Log files then can be collected and troubleshooted.
The time period is unknown.

If there are no important files or if they are already backed up then you can clean install with a clear end point (new operating system and registry, new drive partition structure, new drivers, new applications, etc.)

Before going down the clean install route, let's actually investigate the problem properly and see why it doesn't work. How are you downloading the C++ package? Using Windows Update or the Windows Update catalog?

Okay, it appears that you Norton 360 installed which could potentially be causing difficulties with updates being downloaded. Please disable Norton 360 or preferably remove it using their official removal tool - Download and run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool for Windows

Rich (BB code):
Error: SetupDiag reports DISM Image Session failure.
Last Phase: Pre-Finalize
Last Operation: Process Drivers for Migration
Message = Failed to get the IDismImage instance from the image session
Function: CDISMManager::CloseImageSession
Error: 0x800706ba
Recommend you re-download the update source files, reboot and try the update again.

From the DISM.log you posted earlier:

Rich (BB code):
2021-11-27 16:22:25, Info DISM DISM FFU Provider: PID=2740 TID=3316 [C:\] is not recognized by the DISM FFU provider. - CFfuImage::Initialize

[2740] [0xc142011c] UnmarshallImageHandleFromDirectory:(641)
[2740] [0xc142011c] WIMGetMountedImageHandle:(2906)

I'm going to have a look into the issue for you and then possibly ask one of the WU team if I run into some difficulty myself.

Ok, I did uninstall Norton about a month ago, but I did it using the remove a program tool within microsoft. Should I try to install it and then re-uninstall it from their website first?

I uninstalled Norton officially, and it doesn't seem to have helped me download C++ 2005 or be able to update my PC. What would be the next step in trying to fix it and allow me to finally be able to install C++ 2005?

I did what it told me to and my SFCFix crashed and gave me that report. I am now also uploading my CBS folder as it asked me to do.

Please run the Sysnative log collector and post a share link into this thread:
SysnativeBSODCollectionApp

Which is your preference regarding time?
a) Wait to see whether trial and error troubleshooting steps work and not have to reinstall applications
b) Perform a Windows refresh, reset save files, custom install, or back up any important files and perform a clean install (all require the reinstallation of drivers)

Do you want to use Windows 11?

If you do there are options to use Windows 11 in supported and unsupported fashions.

When performing a clean install you can use either Windows 11 or Windows 10.

I would rather get this done as quickly as possible, so I feel like option B would be the easiest for me. The only problem is, every time I try to reinstall windows, it goes to the installation portion and cancels out at around 70% installation. I don't mind using either windows 10 or 11, whatever will get this done quicker/whichever is the easier option.

Please perform the following steps:

1) Run the Microsoft Windows 11 compatibility tester: (bottom of this link)
Upgrade to the New Windows 11 OS | Microsoft
Post images or share links into this thread.

2) If everything displays compatible then you can install either operating system with full Microsoft support
If anything is incompatible you can still clean install Windows 11 or you can clean install Windows 10 and later modify the registry and files.

These next steps are for Windows 10.
If you want Windows 11 then this is the applicable Windows 11 iso:
Download Windows 11

3) Find a flash drive that you can format (> or = 8 GB)

4) Create a bootable Windows 10 iso 21H2
Download Windows 10

5) Plan to clean install Windows 10 21H2 using the iso

6) Upgrade the BIOS: 1820 > 3211
PRIME B450M-A - Support

7) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
shutdown /r

8) Attempt to install C++ 2005 (this is for academic purposes)

9) Backup any important files

10) Backup any important bookmarks

11) For the clean install make sure
a) that only one disk drive is attached during the clean install (can detach cables)
b) that all partitions are deleted and that the drive is unallocated before installing Windows

12) Install drivers displayed on the ASUS website

13) Install applications

14) Perform Windows updates

15) Make free backup images: (save to another disk drive or the cloud or both)
Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.
If you prefer pay backup images (more features) then many have reduced costs this week starting with cyber monday.
Many members prefer Macrium.

16) After the clean install monitor the computer for unexpected shutdowns and restarts:
