Error 80073712 when trying to install updates or roles on Server 2012 R2

Hi Peps.
New to the forum. Impressed with the level of help given here. Hope you can help me.
I cannot complete the updates listed below and cannot add a new feature to my server 2012 r2. (trying to add smtp to it)


2018-09 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2 for Windows Server 2012 for x64 (KB4457919)2018-10 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2 for Windows Server 2012 for x64 (KB4459923)
2018-10 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2012 for x64-based Systems (KB4462929)
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 for Windows Server 2012 for x64 (KB4054542)
Security Update for Windows Server 2012 (KB2992611)


I ran SFCFix and it found no corruptions. see attached.
I ran
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth with source pointed at a windows 2012 iso, also with not source . got the same error. 80073712 - corrupt component store
I ran a sc /scannow and it found a lot of errors which it couldn't fix. see attached zipped CBS.log

Please start with the following:

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service and just provide the link here.
