I am running Win 7 Pro SP1 x64 on my 2015 Macbook Air using Parallels 10. One VM is working perfectly and is accepting all updates, the other suddenly stopped accepting updates starting July13.
I have checked Seven Forums, Microsoft and Googled and tried all the suggested things. tom982 seems to be successful at helping folks resolve their issues:

I've run SURT a number of time in different combinations (restart, no restart).
SFC scan did not return any problems.
I cleared the updates and the downloaded files.
The error codes are all 800736B3 (there were a few others that have disappeared since I tried the different methods to resolve, see screen shot from 7/22).
My CBS.zip file is 90 MB and to big to upload.
I will attach a log file that I copied 7/27/2015.
I noticed that some of the KB in the list of pending updates are for x32 but that does not seem completely unusual. I manually downloaded and installed and X64 and it failed too (KB30658220
There is a screenshot of update history included.

I will gladly post all the links that I used if desired. Your help is appreciated because I must have spent 40 hours configuring this VM of Windows 7 before it started failing the updates.

Unfortunately I cannot upload my windowupdate.log because it is too large for the form.
I have uncovered something that may help with the issue.
Using https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/827218 the automatic detection says I have 32-bit OS but when I check manually it displays that I am using a 64-bit system. See attached imagesAutodetect KB827218 on Win 7 New..png

I hope you can help. I have tried everything that I could find on the bulletin boards.
Currently trying to find a non-OEM disk so I can run a repair on the installation.
Thanks

Please run the SURT again and attach the log.

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

Download and run the System Update Readiness Tool for your version of Windows here: System Update Readiness Tool

This tool will take some time to complete - when it has finished, attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log with your reply.

zcomputerwiz,
thank you for your reply. I have run SURT a number of times previously (attached the old file from July 28) and ran it again just now.

I have also tried these tools:
MicrosoftFixit.wu.FISC.5835740058368749.1.1.Run.exe.
Windows6.1-KB3079904-x64.msu which I downloaded and tried running manually to ensure the my Windows Update downloader wasn't corrupting filesView attachment CheckSUR.logView attachment CheckSUR 2015-07-28.log
Thanks in advance. I have made a copy of the VM and tested different things like uninstalling software and uninstalling updates. Nothing helped.

I'll need to take a look at the CBS log.

This script will upload the logs, it should avoid the file upload limitation :)

 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

I just wanted to give you an update. Yesterday I did an in-place upgrade of the Windows 7 OS and then spent the day applying the security patches. So far the system appears to be accepting the updates again. However, if you are interested, I am still willing to run the above-mentioned test on a copy of the VM that had the problem. I will probably do it to see what information the tool delivers. If you love the challenge of trouble shooting, I will gladly send the results over, otherwise we can lay the issue to rest. I appreciate your interest and help so far.

Please do :)

Zcomputerwiz, I realize that I may have answer the question inside the SFCfix incorrectly. I answered that I was in the Windows 7 forum but I believe I actually submitted under Windows Updates. Sorry about that but I have attached the file SFCFix.txt as requested.Looks like it completed successfully.
