Hi All,

Running into the same issue as post Error 1009: The configuration registry database is corrupt (Windows Server 2016)

Hi Welcome to Sysnative,

You need to provide the COMPONENTS hive for us to check...

Retrieve the Components Hive

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file
Please copy the COMPONENTS file to your desktop
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again
Right-click on this file on your Desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your Desktop
If file will is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or upload to www.sendspace.com and just provide the link for the file here

Hi,

Replace Components Hive Manually

!!! WARNING !!! The following fix is only relevant for this system and no other, applying this fix on another computer will not work and most likely will cause problems...

Download COMPONENTS2.ZIP and save it to the Desktop.
Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
Now you have the COMPONENTS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
Right-click on the current COMPONENTS file and select rename. Rename it to COMPONENTS.bad.
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
Take the file from the Components folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config

I replaced the COMPONENTS file with the one you provided but had the same result.

Hi,

Search with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)

Download FRST or FRST x64 and save it to the Desktop.
(Please pick the version that matches your operating system's bit type. If you don't know which version matches your system, try FRST if it say that is not compatible with your OS you have to use FRST64
Execute FRST/FRST64 right click on the icon

and choose Run as Administrator. Make sure all other windows are closed.
On the Search box Copy & Paste the following text:

COMPONENTS

Click to expand...
Press the Search Files button.
Wait for the search to finish FRST will produce a log called (Search.txt) in the same directory the Tool is run from.
Please copy and paste the log to your post.

Hi,

Based on the result it doesn't seem you replaced the file because it should have a newer date!

Do you have a copy of the COMPONENTS2.ZIP to extract or do you need that I upload the file again?

It seems to have repaired the issue. Thank you I was able to install the updates.
