Hello

I've been trying to upgrade to Windows 10 and have been having some errors. I've tried the sfc /scannow operation and the dism operations. I looked in the CBS logs after running the dism operations and noticed error 0x800f0906 and mention of two corrupt files. The Following:

(p) CSI Payload Corrupt amd64_netfx4-system.componentmodel.annotations_b03f5f7f11d50a3a_4.0.9600.21180_none_27c69d9924103d18\System.ComponentModel.Annotations.dll
Repair failed: Missing replacement payload.
(p) CSI Payload Corrupt wow64_microsoft-windows-w..pdateclient-activex_31bf3856ad364e35_7.9.9600.17918_none_dcea52ebaed73684\wuapp.exe
Repair failed: Missing replacement payload.

The sfc option tells me about the 'corrupt' files that are connected to the update that Microsoft says is in the process of fixing. I don't have access to any install images to retrieve the missing files. I'd be grateful for any help to solve these problems. Thanks in advance.

Here's the contents of my SFCFix.txt file after running SFCFix.exe:

Hi Aura

Thanks for the fix. I'm currently running the Dism operation and will next do the sfc operation to see if the system accepted the files properly. Do you have any advice on fixes for the other three files I mentioned? Thanks in advance for your time and patience.

I'll need to see a fresh CBS.log to give you advice on that, to see if the corruption is still present.

Yes I did. The CBS log you see there is after I ran the fix and then did a dism and sfc run. I'm guessing the previous CBS log was moved aside by Windows or whatever. Do you want to see that log file too?

Can you run the SFCFix again, and post the log that will be created on your desktop once it's done?

I just finished running SFCFix. The log contents follow:

You aren't following the instructions, hence why it didn't work :P Read them carefully please. It tells you to download the attached SFCFix.zip file at the end of the post, move it on your Desktop and then drag it on top of SFCFix.exe.

lol yes that's what I did. I ran the dism tool and then the sfc tool after. And then I ran SFCFix standalone, which produced the log file I sent just now.

Yes, and that's not how you're supposed to run SFCFix, that's why :) Here:

Now it worked :) Alright, let's run SFC again and grab a new CBS.log.

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Follow the instructions below please.
