Dear All,

I'm trying to install the KB5033118 on a Windows server 2022 21H2 (OS Build 20348.1607). The KB is downloaded and the installation start but failed after some time with the error 0x800f0831
I've tried the common command (sfc, dism etc..) reboot and so on but nothing worked.
I've tried ton install it manually but I'm not able to find the right package has the name seems to be truncated in logs.

Attached are the ComponentsScanner.txt and the zipped CBS folder.

Thanks in advance.

All the best,

Greg

Hi and welcome to Synative,

Open an elevated command prompt, run the following command and copy and paste the result in your next post.
Code:

CertUtil: -hashfile command FAILED: 0x80070002 (WIN32: 2 ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)

Hi,

Here's the first fix, I noticed also some other issues, but we'll look at them later.

Step 1. Download
6530fbb0f4101-56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Please attempt to update again. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs and a copy of the COMPONENTS hive.

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Please run the following command to check a *.manifest file, I'm expecting an 0x80070002 error as well!
Code:
certutil -hashfile C:\Windows\WinSxS\Manifests\amd64_microsoft-windows-s..rdatacenter-license_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.20348.1194_none_42b88e9e669d00b0.manifest SHA256

Here it is :)
