Windows Update Assistant keeps failing with an error like 'Error: 0x8007001f' .
It's been going on for years, and I'm still on Version 1607.
This process often happens multiple times a day. I have used Microsoft's windows update troubleshooter multiple times, it claims to have fixed the errors but the update is still broken.

My Windows update history says:
"Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4049411)
Successfully installed on 10/18/2018"

But it doesn't actually update successfully and so the process repeats the next day.

Here's what I did (in order) before posting:

1. Ran SFC Scan ("Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.")
2. DISM Scan ("The restore operation completed successfully. The operation completed successfully.")
3. Ran SFCfix.exe (No corruptions, but stage 1 of 6 failed and creating zip files also failed)
4. Ran Windows 10 update assistant again. ("Error: 0x8007001f")

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Attached are CBS.zip and SFCFix.txt

Hello and welcome!

1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
2. Accept the License Agreement
3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

We want to get the ISO so that you don't have to keep downloading which can take hours.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I ran the setup in the ISO and eventually during the install process I got this error:

0x8007001F - 0x20006
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during REPLICATE_OC operation

Not really helpful as it contains only one line, but let's see sth else. Is there a wifi card attached to the machine? If so, please disconnect it while you upgrade.

No wifi card or anything attached to PC except: I had a 3.5 inch internal hdd attached to the PC by a mobile rack, I removed the hdd and tried the ISO setup again but unfortunately I got the same error as before.

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Please uninstall the following:

MSI Afterburner 4.4.0
MSI Development Tools
MSI DragonEye
MSI Gaming APP
MSI Kombustor 3.5.0
MSI Live Update 6
MSIRegister

Do you have the latest BIOS version on the machine?

Uninstalled everything except MSI Development Tools which I couldn't find/figure out how to uninstall. I have never manually updated BIOS and I think it's the same version since I purchased the motherboard.

OK, please do the following, so I can gather more info:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
 3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
 4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
 5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

I made 42GB of free space in C: , but I still get the same error message as before.

0x8007001F - 0x20006
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during REPLICATE_OC operation.

I decided to fresh install the OS by booting from USB and updates work now, so I no longer need assistance.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the help.
