This is what I ordered for my 2nd HDD - dv7-1020us laptop.

It is a HDD caddy, right?

The packing slip does say -
NEW Hard drive caddy HP dv7 dv7-1000 dv-1200 series
370469913312

When Paige handed me that envelope, I asked her "where's the other package/ rest of it?"

Neither of us knew of course!

Thanks,

John

That's not a HDD caddy John.... but I don't know what it is!

I would ask the seller, you've either been sent the wrong item or you could ask for a refund and to return it since it's not what you want.

The item in Wrench's link is a HDD caddy. Is that what you ordered? Is that what the photo was of (or similar)?

Yes Bruce - that's the site.

You all know -- so -- what the hell is it & why did they send it to me?

IDK; not going to open it & break the seal.

I can't imagine how the fulfillment center got that one wrong.

This is a copy/paste of the email I received from ebay -

Looks like a Bluetooth module or a Modem module...

You didn't, by chance, order it from China, did you?

John, that's a new style HD installation kit & connector for a secondary hard drive. You remove the white plug on one end of the wire and solder it to the SATA connector on the hard drive. Place the HD in the 2nd drive bay and put the included modem on top of the drive and between the drive bay cover. Squash the cover down and screw it down with one of the supplied screws.

For a minute there, I thought you were serious!

Did you exchange the parts you received for the right caddy? I looked and don't have one that will fit.

Not yet. Partial Spring cleanup & I fear it may have been a victim. Still have places to look.

The new HDD has been in w/o a caddy as new W7 install for ~1 week now. All fine so far.

Still using the Marlboro box to hold the HDD in place, John???
