So I keep getting BDOS at random intervals on windows 10, could be a day could be 2 hours but my system always crashes, the stop code im getting is "Driver power state failure, Ive tried everything i can think of from updating the drivers to charging the power settings, I was about to attempt a full wipe and fresh install but it failed and got stuck at 13% for like 2 hours now it keeps giving me "there was a problem resetting your PC" when i try again anybody have any ideas? I just spend about 2000$ on this custom build

Hi Imaboss07,

Welcome to Sysnative forums. :-)

I would recommend removing Driver Easy, such programs are not needed and can cause future problems with bad drivers.

Is the stop code you mentioned the only stop code you had so far?

The system crashed while processing a power IRP to wake up what I suspect to be a drive based on the iastorac driver that is part of the Intel chipset controller on the motherboard. Is the firmware on the NVME drive updated?

So Ive uninstalled easy driver and am now checking my disk drives, I did download the chipset update from Asus if that's what you're meaning. Windows says my drivers are all up to date. As far as the NVMe goes I've been looking into it and I'm trying to figure out how to identify if the firmware is up to date. Its currently on CT500P2SSD8, Should I try to update it to P2CR010?

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I completely missed this.

You don't need to delete it.

Have you had any crashes since the last post?

So i have actually not had any crashes strangely enough l, I am noticing a few minor performance issues and am still unable to reset (wipe and reinstall windows) everytime I try it says there was an error. But i got rid of the driver easy software. And i think thay worked for the most part l.

You might be able to receive better assistance at the Windows Update forum for your problems with reinstalling Windows.

These driver update programs are not recommended by many for several reasons. A few of the, in my opinion, important ones:
- having the newest driver version does not guarantee the best, or most stable performance,
- they can install drivers that your system should not have installed in the first place, therefore causing your hardware to malfunction, in turn causing crashes. This fortunately rarely happens, but the software does increase the chances for this to occur.

I would recommend keeping it simple and do not use third-party software for updating drivers since you rarely need to update them anyway. Use Windows Update and the vendor of your computer/motherboard, primarily the vendor and Windows Update as alternative. If you do that, you will have the best drivers for your computer without requiring you to keep yet another program installed (and updated).

So i guess i spoke too soon, its been weeks since i have had a crash playong a couple hours at a time. But it just happened again lol.
