I was getting some sound crackling at times on my new PC build. After some research and troubleshooting, I found that it appears to be caused by DPC Latency.
I used the DPC Latency Checker application and determined that after a reboot, all day long, it will be 500 microseconds or less. If I put it to sleep then wake it up, the latency increases to 15000-16000 and I get the random crackling sound.
I ran some xperf traces and found that dxgkrnl.sys took up significantly more resources than anything else. I have the newest video drivers for my Radeon R9 295x2 and all Windows Updates.
Does anyone have any ideas?
