Hey

I have recently noticed alot of audio lag, sound cutting off or hearing "crackling" noises. I decided to attempt to crack this down and came down to DPC latency being the issue, I have monitored the DPC and it ranges from anything around 100 microseconds and every so often spikes up to 7000, causing large audio cuts.
I have done alot of googleing, measured with LatencyMon etc. I come empty handed and hope that you guys can help me out with this.
I have updated my bios to the most recent version.

  • System Manufacturer? I built it myself
  • Laptop or Desktop? Desktop
  • OS ? (Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista) Windows 10
  • x86 (32bit) or x64 (64bit)? 64-Bit
  • Service pack? Most recent update.
  • What was original installed OS on system? Windows 10 64-bit
  • Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? It is a full retail version
  • Age of system? (hardware) 2 years, GPU is less than 1 year.
  • Age of OS installation? 2 years
  • Have you re-installed the OS? No
  • CPU 4790K
  • RAM (brand, EXACT model, what slots are you using?) Kingston hyperx DDR3 1866 Mhz 8x2
  • Video Card EVGA GTX 1080
  • MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop) Asus Z97-A
  • Power Supply - brand & wattage (if laptop, skip this one) EVGA G2 850W Gold 80+
  • Is driver verifier enabled or disabled? Disabled
  • What security software are you using? (Firewall, antivirus, antimalware, antispyware, and so forth) Norton 360
  • Are you using proxy, vpn, ipfilters or similar software? No
  • Are you using Disk Image tools? (like daemon tools, alcohol 52% or 120%, virtual CloneDrive, roxio software) No
  • Are you currently under/overclocking? Are there overclocking software installed on your system? I had a overclock on my CPU on 1.262v 4.6 GHZ all cores, although I tried removing it which didn't help the latency.

Hey Xilolee!

This is what i got from the elevated command prompt:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Hey Xilolee!

The latency is quite alot lower, but it still goes up to around 400 microseconds by ntoskrnl.exe, nvlddmkm.sys and dxgkrnl.sys.
Another thing I noticed was that as soon as I reactivated my wifi card drivers this happened: https://i.imgur.com/WAcuU9u.png

For some reason nvlddmkm.sys and dxkrnl.sys both spike, why would they spike when you turn on your internet connection?
