Major problems - ran sfc scannow and the CBS log has highlighted this update as the cause. Bleeping Computer then referred me to a link in The Tech Cookbook that will resolve it but I need to check if I need the x86 version or the x64 version.

I'd appreciate your advice, please. Thanks

Hi, :wave:and welcome to Sysnative Forums.

To find out which version of Windows you're running, and whether it's a 32-bit (x86), 64-bit (x64), or Itanium-based system, click the Start button

, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.

Hope this helps.

There is a problem with KB3022345 there are not any corrupt files, there should be another release of KB3022345 in nest weeks updates.

Just heard about it myself.

This seems to be the current advice.

Two of the errors relate to KB3022345 - and there is no point in attempting to repair these errors, since they will re-appear if another diagnostic is run.
The update itself is of questionable value, and appears also to have its own problems :(
I would suggest uninstalling it, and then doing a Check for Updates, and hiding the update when it re-appears there.

Erm, thats not really a good idea. The object of community forums is foremost, to help, but the great thing is that, someone, somewhere might be googling the exact same issue that you have.

If its dealt with by PM, it won't be in the results.

This is not a rule, as such, but you are requested not to ask for assistance via PM.

Rules

He doesn't even have a fix, further than what I already told you.

Hi Deejay100six. My quandary is that helpful technical forums like here get annoyed if someone posts their problem in more than one forum - and rightly so. Last year I was kicked out of one forum because I wasn't aware of this rule and posted in two forums.

I first mentioned my problem in the Norton Community and someone there suggested that I go to a specialist forum. Bleeping Computer was the first on the list and after looking at my CBS log, they suggested that I go to the Tech Cookbook where a fix was available. The author of that fix is also a well-known guy here - I simply pm'd him to say that his link (on TC) wasn't working.

It was very late, I'd been on my laptop many hours and on reflection I now appreciate that I should have joined that forum and pm'd him there. And I now appreciate that I shouldn't have pm'd him here. Sorry. :rose:

I haven't removed KB3022345 for now as I waiting to download the tech Cookbook SFC fixes. Having started with bleeping computer, who then sent me to the tech cookbook, I must listen to and follow their advice. What I found interesting (at 02:00 this morning) is that this damned KB update has caused so many problems, that Microsoft are now on their 7th (?) version of the update yet will not admit that the first one has corrupted files.

Thanks for your interest and for pointing me in the right direction - much appreciated - and I hope you now understand the reason for my error.
