Hi everyone,
I apologize early if my english is not great, it not being my first language i'll try my best to be understood here.

Few days ago, i bought and downloaded a new game to my computer. When i tried to launch it, an error occured, it saying that they couldn't find an entry point in the DLL file (trying to translate it as best as i can, since it's initially written in french.. it happened with 2 different games, all downloaded recently, nothing happened before this event that could possibly look like the same).
After searching how to fix it on the internet, I read that it might come from windows being corrupted in some ways and I saw that i had to :

- check if windows is up to date (everything is fine here)
- uninstall and install back the Visual C++ files (all of them are up to date)
- run a SFC scan and see if anything is broken and if it can be fixed that way (apprently things are broken and it can't repair it)
- then i found this website asking me to run SFCFix, wich i did, and see if it could repair it (it couldn't)

I'm currently out of solutions and starving for help, my last solution would be to reset completely my computer and with the bad connexion i have down here i don't want to download again all my stuff...

Thank you in advance, and tell me if u need anything specific to help you figure out how to help me !

P.S.: Here is the link to download my CBS file with my last run : CBS.zip

Hello and welcome,

Follow the instructions below to run a scan with the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) and provide a log.
  1. Download SURT for your system. (Windows 7 SP1 x64)
  2. Once downloaded, execute the installer, and go through the installation (this process can take around 15-20 minutes).
  3. On completion, a log will be created in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log.
  4. Attach this log to your next reply.
Alternatively, if these instructions are unclear for you, you can follow the tutorial below.

FRST File Search:
  1. Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

  2. Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  3. Copy and paste PAF432~1.* into the Search box and click the Search Files button.

The checksur log is clean.
Restart the computer.
Check Windows Update again and report the result.
If it fails, attach a fresh copy of the file cbs.log to your next reply.

I did restart the computer, and windows update didn't seem to tell that something was still wrong, but just in case i'll link you the CBS log since it'll probably speak more to you than it does to me...

I also tried to launch again the game that wasn't working due to DLL problems and apparently that part is not fixed, so if windows is i'm afraid that these 2 aren't related... And honestly i have no clue on where to search if it's not due to windows files being corrupted in some ways

The cbs.log looks clean. Perform the following scan.

ChkDsk Scan
  • Click on Start - All programs - Accessories.
  • Rightclick on Command-prompt and select Run as administrator.
  • When command prompt opens, typ chkdsk into it, then press enter.
  • Wait for this to complete.
  • Download ListChkdskResult.exe by SleepyDude and save it on your desktop.
  • Rightclick
    58a60a47ed1bd-ListChkdskResult.PNG
ListChkdskResult.exe and select Run as administrator. Notepad will open the file ListChkdskResult.txt on completion. (The file ListChkdskResult.txt can be found on your desktop.)
  • Copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories.
Right-click on Command-prompt and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards.

Code:
chkdsk c: /f
At the question "Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)", press Y.
Restart the system.

Do not press any key during the restart. This will allow CHKDSK to start.
Wait for this to complete. Please note that this may take several hours. Let it run even if it looks like the process has stopped!
On completion, the system will restart automatically.

So, i did copy paste the command, press yes to the question and then restart the computer, but now that it is restarted how do i know the process is still going / is finished, and how do i give you the results if needed ?

Because no command window or anything popped on the restart so i'm wondering if everything went as planned !
