When I run DISM Scan, it indicates "The component store is repairable". Yet when I run DISM Restore Health, it can't repair and I get error 0x800f081f. I have searched and searched for an answer, but I am not technical enough to understand what my problem might be. SFC Scannow runs fine and no problems are found - likewise with DSKCHK. I am not presently having any problems that I am aware of - but this thing with DISM bothers me. Appreciate any insight anyone can provide. Thanks.

I have CBS and DISM Zip files - just couldn't figure out how to attach them to this post.

When I check health, the result is: "The component store is repairable. The operation completed successfully.' However when I run a restore health, it is not able to repair it. This seems strange to me, in that if it's repairable, why doesn't it repair it when I try to restore it. Maybe some missing files? However SFC Scan indicates no problem,so I would think my Windows files are all ok. Is DISM really all that important? Just struggling to understand - lol.

Hi,

According to the log you attached, the last DISM run found no problems:

Code:
=================================
Checking System Update Readiness.

Summary:
Operation: Detect and Repair
Operation result: 0x0
Last Successful Step: Entire operation completes.
Total Detected Corruption: 0
    CBS Manifest Corruption: 0
    CBS Metadata Corruption: 0
    CSI Manifest Corruption: 0
    CSI Metadata Corruption: 0
    CSI Payload Corruption: 0
Total Repaired Corruption: 0
    CBS Manifest Repaired: 0
    CSI Manifest Repaired: 0
    CSI Payload Repaired: 0
    CSI Store Metadata refreshed: True

Total Operation Time: 377 seconds.

In fact, all the DISM runs are the same.

If SFC is not reporting any issues, and it seemed to perform repairs on an earlier run, then I would not worry about it.

Are you having any issues with Windows Update or other software that prompted you to run DISM?

Regards,
Stephen

Stephen, I am having no problems with Windows Update or other software that prompted me to use DISM. I had used it in the past and corrected SFC Scan errors. This time around, I just ran it after SFC was clean and can't really give a good reason why I did it. I was just confused about the DISM results indicating the component store being repairable, and then not being able to repair it when I ran the restore scan.

I appreciate your looking at the logs and will just ignore based on your assessment of them. Thanks for your swift reply . Will donate to the site - hope it continues as we need more like it. Thanks again!

Hello,

No worries, I just wanted to make sure because if you were, I'd try another tactic. But looking at the logs again, I don't see anything to be concerned about. SFC has performed a few repairs in previous runs, but there is nothing left un-repaired that is a cause for concern.

Many thanks, it's really appreciated! :)

Regards,
Stephen
