Hello,

I have been trying to figure out specific cause for the below mentioned error. I have search and applied all the possible ways on internet to fix this issue but none of it seems to work for me.

Basically the sfc /scannow throws output that "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them"
and on the other hand Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth shows "The system cannot find the file specified" error.

Can anyone help with this

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

I was just looking into your problem.

Step 1. Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Step 2. Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFixScript.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFixScript.txt file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Hi,

It seems you try to update from 1607 (Redstone 1) is that correct? The latest update for this build was installed at this date 2021/3/29.

Hi,

Download the

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link

Warning: This script was written specifically for this system. Do not run this script on another system.

  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Hi,

Please perform the following stepts to upgrade Windows 10 using the ISO file.

Windows 10 Upgrade
The steps below will upgrade the operating system, without removing any file or program. But make always a backup of all your important data, or make a complete system image!
See this guide: how to make a complete image of your systemdrive.
  • Go to this Microsoft page and under the title Create Windows 10 installation media press on Download tool now.
  • Save the tool on your Desktop and double click to run it.
  • On the License terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
  • On the What do you want to do page, select Create installation media (USB....) and then select Next.
  • Choose the ISO file option. Once the download is complete, right click the ISO and select the option Mount.
  • Open the Windows File Explorer and open mounted ISO, and run the setup.exe file.
  • Follow the instructions and click on the option Change what to keep.
  • Select the option Keep personal files and apps and click next.
  • Windows Setup will now start upgrade installation.

I did the upgrade win 10 using ISO.

Now it shows

Error: 0x800f0907

DISM failed. No operation was performed.
For more information, review the log file.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Hi,

  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
  • Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

  • Attach the file CBS.zip to your next reply.

Hi,

This build is missing a huge number of files (19026), and the support for this version (14393.xxx) ended on April 2018, almost five years ago! I would suggest to backup important data and install this system from scratch with the latest build 22H2.
