Hi,

I have a pc with W10 , the NTFS compression is disabled to speed up things.
However when I try to do "dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup"
it returns following.

[==========================100.0%==========================]

Error: 769

Compression is disabled on this volume.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Is this normal due to NTFS compression being disabled?
Please find dism.log attached if anyone would like to take a peek inside...

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, when you disable the NTFS file compression in Windows it can trigger errors like this. Error 769 or Error 5 Access is denied

Nowadays, SSD's and HDD's are fast enough to decrompresses and recompresses files without any performance issues.

Which tweak did you use to disable the (default) NTFS file compression?
