Hello

I am running into an issue with my windows updates erroring out. I have tried about everything I can think of along with what I can find online with no luck.
I have tried chkdsk which does complete with no errors. DISM and SFC error out with screen shots below. I have also tried doing a repair From Windows 10 creation tool and I get the error "the installation failed in the safe_os phase with an error during replicate_oc operation." If I can try to avoid rebuilding this PC that would be great as I need that to be the very last resort. I was hoping someone can help me out. I have also attached some log files. If you need any other information please let me know

Hello
I am running into some issues with windows update. Below are a few screen shots along with some log files. I have ran chkdsk with no errors, and I get an error "the installation failed in the safe_os phase with an error during replicate_oc operation while trying to run a windows 10 repair from the media creation tool. The last resort is wiping it clean but I really do not want to go through that as there is a lot of software on this machine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Sorry about the double post, I entered in the first one and didn't see it so I recreated it. Both posts have the same data. Here is the error I get when I try a repair from the creation tool and iso. it quits at checking for updates at 15%.

Hi!

Fortunately, this can be fixed:

Step 1 - Replace Components Hive Manually

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download COMPONENTS.ZIP and save to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
  3. Now we have the COMPONENTS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  5. Right-click on the current COMPONENTS file and select rename. Rename it to COMPONENTS.bad.
    Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  6. Take the file from the Components folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config

Hello

Thank You for the reply back. I did get farther by following your instructions. I still get these errors. If I don't run DISM without a source it tells me its missing. Any other ideas? Screen shots, CBS us in a link below and dism log attached. Thanks

Try upgrading to the latest Windows 10 version:

  1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
  2. Accept the License Agreement
  3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
  4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

We want to get the ISO so that you don't have to keep downloading which can take hours.

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to check your SMART status with GSmartControl:

  • Download the portable version of GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the zip file to your Desktop. Open the folder gsmartcontrol-1.1.3-win64 which should be located on your Desktop and double-click gsmartcontrol.exe to launch the program.
  • Identify your drive in the list (if recognized by the tool), and hover your mouse over it.
  • You should see something called: SMART status. It will either read: Enabled, in which case you should do the following:
  • Double-click on it to bring up its window (usually you'll find your drive by its size or its brand name);
  • Go to the Self-Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply or take a screenshot;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
  • Please note: If the SMART Status reads: Unsupported, stop and let me know.

Hello

I get this drive is unsupported. Do you have any tutorials on how to fix the DIDM from another source? I keep trying different commands and no luck, I keep getting that same error code. See Below. Thanks

Are there any other options other than a reinstall? I get that there are a lot of errors but I will try anything and I will donate for our time.

Am I doing anything with those DISM commands from another source or is that a waste of my time? it does say its repairable.

This deep of troubleshooting is new to me. Can you let me know how to manually remove those remnants so I can get started. Thanks
