Good people,
I come to you via Major Geeks and the SFC Fix posted on that site; but first here is some background.
Being 71, as of July 28th just past, I am neither as quick on the uptake nor as tolerant of machines and the hold they have on our world as I once was. While not a Luddite at heart, I do not participate in "social media" in any way, shape or form. Nor do I posess nor desire to own a cell or smartphone or whatever the heck they are called now a days.
Some basic truths: while Willie Mays may not have been the "best" baseball player ever, who pray tell, could do all that he could do better? My granddaughter, 18 months of age, Lilah, owns my heart. There is a song, "May You Always" from about 1957 that may speak to you. Check it out. Also look up "Whose Garden Was This?" by Tim Harden.
To the problems at hand: have a Dell Inspiron Desktop3847 with 8 gigs of RAM, running Windows 8.1. Several weeks ago discovered that updates were not being processed. After using Tweaking.com Windows Repair from Major Geeks and several tools from Microsoft things appeared okay. Two days ago discovered that I have no sound. Device manager identifies no problems, trouble shooters can find no problems. Opening my Music Library and clicking/opening an item stored there in results in nothing happening. Also have instances where Control Panel opens but nothing shows on screen as being there. (This now may be corrected.) Tried running sfc /scannow from a command prompt and it would not run.
Attached is log from SFC Fix run today. Any help/assistance will be appreciated. And, as we say on my plant: Live long and prosper. Peace be with you.
