Hello everyone

First things first: sfcfix and some of the helpers here already blew me away more than i ever dared to imagine when not too long ago i clicked on the results of my very specific search query in ever so slight despair.

I am still just getting into it but so far sfcfix has already made some real progress for me and managed to reduce 3000+ corruptions to

Code:
CBS & SFC total detected corruption count: 800

Which is still quite substantial it seems compared to some other cases I saw in other threads. It's a Windows 7 N installation with a custom built image that had some additional components stripped. That's probably also the reason for the high discrepancy.

My first question is: Is there a reference for what can go into the txt config file somewhere?
For example I am trying to tell sfcfix to use a specific drive or even a path to a .wim image containing the required data.
A virual drive is all i have and it seemed to me as if the tool is not checking that said virtual drive where the files are located inside the mounted image (which now contains the unaltered archives with a full-blown winsxs).

Is there a way to set that explicitly or am i far from doing what i am supposed to do and this makes no sense?
My next attempt would probably be to try to get those dirs/files over to winsxs manually. But that just doesn't feel right after the breeze it has been thus far.

Cheers!

Hi Kon -

Let's see if we can help you out. There isn't really a reference that you can have access to. It's not as straightforward as you may think. We have an acadamy here where we train helpers on Windows Update/Servicing issues and request in return that they assist here in the forums for awhile.

Please start with the following.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.
