Hi,

I have an Offline Windows 10 Workstation (OS: Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.4291) that I used as testbed for my work. I usually do windows updates offline on this workstation from catalog to keep it up-to-date and auditing purpose. From May2024 Cumulative update (KB5037768) and onwards, I saw these updates are getting failed with Error code: 0x800f0989. I performed the SFC/SCANNOW that came up without any errors. DISM command gave me error 0x800f081f.

I have attached DISM log, ComponentsScanner log, and CBS log for review. Pass: h@Q3khA1
SHA256: 3ed99ed351a1f7e9b67159976592ed38fa8e301393400a6ad0c77a286007fa39

Kindly advise on the root-cause and resolution.

Thanks.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Hi Maxstar,

Thank you for sharing the SFCFix files. I have downloaded the files. I will post the logfile on Monday early morning.

Hi,

That's fine, I will see the result next Monday, have a nice weekend... (y)

Hi Maxstar,

I applied the SFCFix and run the DISM command and this time, it completed successfully without the error.
Please note that the Workstation is Standalone having no internet connection so it was unable to connect to Sysnative server, and got me worried a bit but still fix was successful.

I was able to apply May, June and July patches sucessfully.

Please find attached the log files for your review Pass: r0b0tICS@!
Is it possible to check from logs the root-cause of the issue, and how can I prevent it from happening again?
