Hi All,

I am having a problem updating our Windows Server 2022 (VM - HyperV) and I am getting a mix of errors, either 0x80070005 or 0x8007000d.

What I have done so far:

ran DISM (component store is repairable) and SFC (no errors) -- getting error 0x800f081f when using restorehealth

reset update components - no luck after doing this

manually installed KB5026370 and KB5027225 - no luck

Server Details:

Edition Windows Server 2022 Standard

Version 21H2

Installed on ‎13/‎12/‎2022

OS build 20348.1668

Notes:

April 11, 2023—KB5025230 (OS Build 20348.1668)

May 9, 2023—KB5026370 (OS Build 20348.1726)

June 13, 2023—KB5027225 (OS Build 20348.1787)

Looking at my build, it is safe to assume that the last LCU installed was KB5025230. However, I can see SSU 10.0.20348.1720 (for KB5026370) and SSU 10.0.20348.1780 (for KB KB5027225) in the "uninstall updates" tab. Anyone who has experienced this and was able to solve?

Just an update to this. I was able to run SFC and DISM restorehealth successfully, I see no errors now with the component store, but the updates are still failing with error 0x8007000d.

Updated CBS and component scan can be downloaded here: CBS&ComponentScanner

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hi,

Download
56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Afterwards attempt to update. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

Appreciate the prompt response, I'll put this on hold until Saturday. This server is on prod so I'll export the VM and test to avoid any problems. Will get back to you asap, thanks again.

That's fine, it's always recommended to use a clone of the production server..

Damn Max, you guys are really good. Sorry if I took time, had to export the prod VM first and run a clone to make sure nothing messes up. Successfully updated, thank you so much!

Hi,
