Cumulative Updates Failing on Server 2019 Machine

Hello,

We recently deployed a physical Dell server running Server 2019 that also functions as a client's only DC and file server. Because of this, we want to avoid an in place upgrade at all costs. After deployment, it successfully got the February 2023 CU, but all CU's after that began to fail. It is getting other random hodgepodge updates though, just not the CU's. Generally from my limited experience troubleshooting these issues, the first step is to uninstall the current CU on the server then attempt to install the latest CU, however that is not working, strangely enough. DISM is also failing to run with error code 0x800f081f. The CBS log attached should include a DISM attempt, then an attempt to install the 2021-05 CU and then the 2023-04 CU.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Step 1. Download
56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
