Hi,

I'm trying to install 2023-03 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 (1809) (KB5023702) - installation is failing on two servers with Error code: (0X800f0922)

Manually downloading and installing the update file from Microsoft Update Catalog gives the same result. Running dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth gives the message 'No component store corruption detected' on both machines.

I would be gratefully if anyone could assist in this matter.

Hi,

Please find the CBS logs attached.

Many thanks in advance :)

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Open an elevated command prompt, run the following commands and attach ProfileList.txt to your next post.
Code:
reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList" /s > "%userprofile%\desktop\ProfileList.txt"
reg query "HKEY_USERS" >> "%userprofile%\desktop\ProfileList.txt"

Hi @Maxstar,

Please find the profile list and an updated CBS log files below. Apologies but can you delete the folders in this forum once you have obtained them.

Many thanks

Hi,

The logfiles does not contain any personal information, but I can remove them of you want.

It seems the issue is caused by the following serviceprofile. Are you able to disable this profile and them attempt to update again.
Rich (BB code):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-80-3235558813-811389010-3472036306-2856418635-1834331229
    ProfileImagePath REG_EXPAND_SZ %SystemRoot%\ServiceProfiles\MSSQLLaunchpad$SQL2019

Hi,

Thank you for your response. Apologies in advance, may I ask how I would disable the service profile mentioned above.

Hi,

See this guide of Microsoft to configure the Launchpad service. I would first check of this profile/service is working correctly, this because it was not loaded into this key: HKEY_USERS.

Hi,

Great, could you maybe explain what the exact problem was with this serviceprofile? Just for my knowledge?

Hi @Maxstar,

Unfortunately, I wont be great help in regards to this matter as I have disabled service and reinstalled the update. Launchpad service is not used as far as I am aware. Please let me know if you require anything for your understanding.

Thanks, I was curious if disabling the service was enough to fix this issue.. (y)
