Hello!

we are currently having problems with a WS2016 datacenter, which is not being able to install any new updates. It is currently stuck with the cumulative update KB5037763, it downloads the KB and after it tries to install it, fails returning the error 0x80073712.

I tried recurring to possible missing SSU updates and even trying to install the Updates manually from Microsoft Catalog, but no luck so far.

SFC scan: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. -> OK
DSIM: 100% Successful
The ComponentScanner gave 131 inconsistencies between WinSxS and COMPONENTS hive and also 784 warnings were detected.

I've attached both CBC logs folder and the ComponentsScanner.txt with the scan results.

I would be thankful to any help assisted, as I want to avoid having to recreate the server in a new installation.

Fran.

Hi Community,

I wonder if someone could please help me with this. I want to avoid having to reconstruct the server from scratch.

Thank you!

Hi, just as an update, the original Update is not showing anymore but now the following:
2024-06 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2016 for x64-based Systems (KB5039214)
Running SFCFix repairs some corrupt files, but error is still ongoing.

Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later.
Error code: (0x80073712)

In the Message of "Failed to install" on the update history it says:
"A security issue has been identified in a Microsoft software product that could affect your system. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft. For a complete listing of the issues that are included in this update, see the associated Microsoft Knowledge Base article. After you install this update, you may have to restart your system."

Can anyone please lend me a hand with this?

Thank you!
