Hi,

I have an old pc running Windows 10 x64 Pro , it was working fine, now it does not boot giving BSOD critical process died.

It can only boot to command mode only. When booting to safe mode , getting BSOD critical process died.

Tried to run offline sfc and dism commands to fix from command only mode , the corrupted files could not be fixed.
Tried to boot from Hiren X64 since it can get online , but the sfc and dism did not give anything different.

X:\Windows\System32>DISM /Image:c:\ /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth

Version: 10.0.19041.1

Image Version: 10.0.19043.2130

The scratch directory size might be insufficient to perform this operation. This can cause unexpected behavior.
Use the /ScratchDir option to point to a folder with sufficient scratch space. The recommended size is at least 1024 MB.

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at X:\windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

What do you advise?

Thanks,

rstrui brings system restore and I had one only on year 2020.
Tried to uninstall updates, failed with not being able to uninstall.
I am stuck with current system.

I had full read scanned the drive with Hddscan , it is fine.
Chkdsk is fine, however I had found some empty directories in found.000
If you still think it is necessary I can try running seatools.
Made memory test with memtest , 1 pass fine.

Therefore need a way to sfc and dism to fix corruptted files... 🙁

Hi.

From what I see, your Windows is installed in E: not C:

In the Recovery Environment the letters are not the same as in normal mode.

Boot to Windows Recovery environment > run chkdsk /b /v > find results > post a share link into this thread

Boot to Windows RE and post results for these commands:

diskpart

A custom or clean install may be required.

(drivers and applications need to be reinstalled)

(files may be able to be saved manually or by Windows)

The srttrail.txt reported:

Code:
A recently serviced boot binary is corrupted.

There were / are problems with the drive file system as per the reported found.000.

Hi,

Please find attached diskpart and chkdsk results.
To save time I did not run /B option, I had scanned the drive it does not have any defects.

Windows drive is C: but in recovery environment command mode it is D:

The new results displayed:

a) chkdsk time: Total duration: 2.93 minutes (175982 ms).

b) missing reserved partition

c) no boot disk

The earlier results had displayed:

d) CBS_E_STORE_CORRUPTION

e) A recently serviced boot binary is corrupted.

The most efficient methods to fix the computer are either a custom or clean install.

Both methods will require the reinstallation of drivers and applications.

The custom install method will have Windows save files.

Important files are then restored.

The clean install method requires the computer user to manually backup important files.

Hi again,

I have mounted software hive from recovery environment and checked the version of the current windows. ( version.png )
It is 19043 , I checked from wikipedia and it corresponds to 21H1 also stated as Displayversion in version.png.
Downloaded 21h1 iso, and used rufus to write it to a usb drive.
Booted from usb , hit shift+f10 to get command prompt and tried following dism command hoping it would fix the corrupt files but it did not work.
Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
The windows usb installation media is drive d: and the windows letter is e: when booted windows installation usb.
DISM /Image:e:\ /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth /source:WIM:d:\sources\Install.wim:4 /LimitAccess /ScratchDir:e:\temp\
Please find attached Dism.log

Am I using wrong windows version? The OS is Win10 Pro , therefore install.wim index 4 is the correct one and I stated in the dism command above...

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have tried sfc offline scan again with this time saved the log file.

X:\>sfc /scannow /OFFBOOTDIR=d:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\windows /OFFLOGFILE=x:\log.txt

I have removed normal verification messages from log, so you can see there are 2 files that need to be fixed and directories regarding security descriptions.
How can I restore the files? It is complaining about hash, can I find the files with correct hash online , download and copy over ?
Please find the log file attached.
