WINDOWS 8 SHUTDOWN AND RESET SHORTCUTS (DESKTOP SCREEN) AND TILES (TILE SCREEN)
SHUTDOWN SHORTCUT AND SHUTDOWN TILE
STEP 1 – CREATE A SHUTDOWN SHORTCUT ON THE DESKTOP
WIN + D | right-click on empty spot on Desktop screen |
New → Shortcut |
in the Location box,type %systemroot%\system32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0 |
NEXT | type SHUTDOWN | FINISH
STEP 2 – CHANGE THE SHORTCUT ICON
Right-click the SHUTDOWN shortcut | Properties | Change Icon button |
OK button | left-click on the Shutdown icon is in the 4th row, 7th column |
OK button | OK button
STEP 3 – CREATE A SHUTDOWN TILE
Right-click on the SHUTDOWN shortcut on your Desktop | click on COPY |
WIN + R | type %PROGRAMDATA%\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\START MENU\PROGRAMS | ENTER |
Right-click at the bottom of the list | click on PASTE | CONTINUE button |
Close (ALT + F4 or click on the red X)
You now have both a shortcut on your DESKTOP SCREEN and a TILE on you TILE screen.
STEP 4 – MOVE THE SHUTDOWN TILE
WIN (to get to the TILE screen if you are not there) | END key |
drag your new tile to the desired position
RESET SHORTCUT AND RESET TILE
