Hi

Everything was fine with my pc until I changed my graphic card from "Nvidia GT 220" to "Nvidia GTX 650 Ti Boost". I installed the latest version of the related driver "445.87". And...

Problems after changing:
1. A lot of kind of buzzing sound when a music a playing or kind of blinking freeze when a video is playing.
2. Notification area popup: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered". Usually when the buzzing continues about two or more seconds, i will have a blinking black screen and then the stopped driver popup shows.
3. Freezing completely, but lesser than buzzing sound.
4. I guess one time or two bsod code 0x00000D1.
5. After returning to the old VGA, i had this error too: "The Nvidia openGL driver detected a problem with the display driver and is unable to continue. the application must close. error code 3".
6. there are a lot of this log in windows failures report and their times are match to the time of freezing of my pc. The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000117

Things I have tried:
1. Uninstalling the driver with DDU software in safe mode and even ticking the deletion of the Nvidia folder.
2. Changing the VGA power program to high performance.
3. Adding key to the registry: TdrDelay of 8 to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
4. Downgrading to 3 other certified drivers. From 445.87 to 442.74, 442.50 and also 441.66. I did all of these with uninstalling the driver in safe mode with DDU.
5. Changing the performance setting of the windows to almost win 98.
6. Using registry clean softwares to clean the registry.
7. Even removing the new graphic card and using the old one.
8. Using memory diagnostic tool of windows. (No error)

I might've even done more than these, but I can't remember and still, no success.

I really appreciate your help.
Regards

So? IS it done?

Best regards

Greetings

I did the sfc scan again and there is not any problem. But...
Unfortunately, the problem still persists and worse than that I'm using the old graphic card that I hadn't any problem with...
Upgrading my windows to something like win 10 is not possible for me. Also there is not any update available for my pc. so doing a windows update is not possible in my case. And i don't want to install a fresh windows. I have a lot of software and that makes the installing of a fresh windows a real big task for me, while I just have this computer for working.
I thought it might be a help to mention that apparently there is not any clear pattern between what I'm doing and the driver failure popup or the buzzing sound.

Any advice is really appreciated.
Regards.

Upgrading a corrupt Windows installation is never a good idea.

Step 1:
  1. Double-click SFCFix.exe to run the tool. A dialog may come up asking for approval. If it does go ahead and allow.
  2. On completion a log file (SFCFix.txt) will be opened. Copy and Paste its content into your next reply.

Step 2:
  1. Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:
64-bit: Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
  2. Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  3. Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  4. Press the Scan button.
  5. Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  6. Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Thank you for your quick reply PeterJ.
And thanks for the advice on not even thinking about upgrading a corrupted windows installation.
I thought it might help that, The windows SFC doesn't detect any problem. And there is not any mistake in sending the log of SFCfix, it's like the previous log at the start of the thread.

Do you still use following programs or are they uninstalled ?
- EaseUS Partition Master
- Acronis Backup
- Acronis Virtual Disk Storage Filter
- R-Drive Image
- VirtualBox

except of R-Drive Image, that I have it but I'm not using it currently. I don't have neither of your mentioned software in the start menu nor the program and features menu.
I remember that I had EaseUS partition and Acronis on this computer someday, but I uninstalled them and I don't have them now.
And I didn't install VirtualBox ever by myself, maybe it was a prerequisite for something, and I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks

Do you use VMware Workstation ?

Warning: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Do not run this script on another machine.
  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Yes, I'm using VMware Workstation for having another windows 7. But if you think that's the problem I can think of something else, like reinstalling.

Thank you

Any improvement after this fix ?

Any improvement after this fix ?

Unfortunately not. The problem continues.
You probably know about this, but I'm just saying that I figured out something. The noise that is happening during of playing of something is not a sound that comes out of the output of the sound card. I don't know how to describe it clearly, but when I recorded the sound of the windows by a portable software, nothing recorded inside of the sound while there was several noises during the recording.
I attached the noise that have been recorded by my cell phone from the speaker. As you can hear, even forwarding the music by my keyboard makes the noise and I tried it with three players and all were the same. (VLC player, MPC player, and WMP)
And when the buzzing and freezing happen, if i stop working with the pc it helps to unfreeze. (apparently, but not always)

Thanks for your help PeterJ.

Thank you

The following might take several hours to complete. You can do it overnight if you like.

Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories.
Right-click on Command-prompt and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards.

Code:
chkdsk c: /f /r
At the question "Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)", press Y.
Restart the system.

Do not press any key during the restart. This will allow CHKDSK to start.
Wait for this to complete. Please note that this may take several hours. Let it run even if it looks like the process has stopped!
On completion, the system will restart automatically.

Thank you PeterJ, I'll do it overnight. but what should I do after it's done? Should I send you anything?

I don't know if what i pasted here is what you asked, or you wanted the whole log. But I compared the new one with the previous one, and the only differences are the things that I send here. the rest of it is like the previous log exactly. (I checked it with Araxis Merge)

Thanks.

Looks good. Some corrections were done.
How is your machine performing now ?

Unfortunately not. I still have the freezing and I learned to always play something in the background to figure out when the freezing is stopped and then I continue on my job.
I don't know if it's related or not, but maybe about one month ago, i had about 4 of my softwares uninstalled by themselves. And the name of the folder of the software was changing to all capital letter with the suffix of "_Uninstalldel". Is it related to the current problem?
Is it possible that a hardware malfunction causes the problem? something other than graphic card, because I have tested both the old and the new one and there wasn't any changes. َAs i mentioned before the problem started after changing the graphic card. (apparently)

Thanks PeterJ.
