I was online and I downloaded a file from someone who I should have trusted, and since then my PC (windows 8 Inspiron intel pentium) has been VERY slow. I am not sure if this is a virus, please help me indentify what this is and how I can get rid of itThis is what I mean -
The start up time is like 1 minute whole. It is usually less than 15 seconds.
Sometimes my computer will run fine, other times it will go VERY SLOW like internet does not load no matter how many times I click the button for it
Everytime I run avast, it just freezes, and I have had to force shut down my comp 3 times now.
Windows Defender came up repreatedly this morning and said that it had been turned OFF when I had done NOTHING to it.I have tried to set it to factory settings in the setting place, but it keeps on saying error, something went wrong and nothigng was deleted or something like that....
These were my symptoms a few days ago. Now Avast runs freely, but the start up time is still pretty long.
Today I was running a the /RestoreHealth Feature on my CMD as Admin, and it keeps on saying '/RestoreHealth is not a recognized as an internal command or feature'. I tried to go to advanced settings and went to the text list under system variables, and clicked the variable named "path", and added "C:\Windows;C:\Windows\system32" in variable value. Nothing changed after that (I had rebooted). Once more, I do not know if this is a virus or not, but I am desperate for help.
Can someone also tell me how to do the cmd.zip thing for Windows 8??
