First off please forgive my manners for not thanking you for your assistance.
It is truly appreciated.
I did run chkdsk on the C: drive and it came back clean.
I followed the instructions and ran the second SFCFix.zip.
Rebooted the computer, opened an Administrator command prompt and ran sfc /scannow.
Below are the results:

C:\windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After I finished my happy dance I tested some of the applications like Windows Media Player that didn't work before.
Most but not all are working.
Since there are no corrupt system files, is it safe to assume that any programs that are still not working will need to be reinstalled?
I'm attaching the SFCFix.txt (renamed to SFCFix002.txt) and CBS.log zipped (Renamed to CBS002.zip)
Thank you again for your assistance.

Also what are the proper procedures to go through now to get a good backup/copy of the system files so in case this happens again I can fall back on it?

If your Windows Media Player is crashing and both SFC and SURT return no errors, I doubt that this is caused by corrupt system files :) Which programs aren't working exactly?

And the good procedure would be to get a Windows 7 x64 RTM and SP1 .iso, so you can use them with SFC to source clean copies of files, but that will only work if the corrupt files are from the RTM and SP1 version of Windows. Any files coming from updates (KBs), won't be present in these .iso.
