Corrupted files left after SFCfix.exe has run

I followed all instructions as per running of scannow and SFCfix.exe and still have some corrupted files according to SFCfix, after it has finished running.

I had noticed that I was having an extremely difficult time doing a copy paste operation. It would copy, but the cursor would not stay where it started etc. So it became really tedious even on 3 or 4 word sentences. If I redid it over and over it would work, but just about as easy as retyping the darn thing. on longer copy pastes it becomes impossible and so retyping is the only option.

After noticing this, I would say I paid more attention and it seems as if the whole laptop is running m ore slowly in general. The only time I have had the copy paste problem before was on a very old "netbook" that simply had no power to copy paste without doing it very slowly. This is a Core I7 Windows 10 brand new laptop. So I ran the scannow and SFCfix programs ...................both telling me that I still had corrupted files. I looked at the log and it seems to show only 1 corrpted file, but better I leave that to you guys.

I have attached the CBS folder as per instructions.

Many thanks for whatever help you can offer.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Yes, it appears to be only one file. Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Step#2 - SFC Scan
1. Right-click on the Start
w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
sfc /scannow

3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter.
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Right-click on this file and choose Send To...Compressed (zipped folder). Please upload this zipped file CBS.zip to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Hi Brian

Many thanks for your reply.

I did as you instructed, saved the files and attached to this. (CBS.txt is now CBS.zip as per your instructions)

It doesn't appear that you attached an updated CBS file. It's old. If you follow the instructions step by step you should end up with a CBS.txt file. What you zipped and attached was CBS.log.

Hi again Brian

Ooooops....sorry..............smile.
I have tried again. So attached is CBS.txt (zipped) and SFCF.txt

Hi Brian
Sorry this took a few days I had to go out of town.

I have attached cbs.txt to the dropbox link below.

Dropbox - cbs.txt

many thanks,

Eric

(And hopefully I did this right, this is my first dropbox attempt)

Looks good. Please do the following.

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please copy and paste log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.
