corrupted files bij updating to windows 8.1

Hello,

This is becoming really strange now. You're the 5th person to have this exact same issue recently, and I am interested in why this is happening. I am going to see if I can track some of the corruptions down, using a copy of the corrupt file from your computer.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file and a folder should be created on your Desktop, titled SFCFix.txt and Tekno_Venus respectively.
  8. Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SFCFix.txt file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text. Then zip up and attach the Tekno_Venus folder to the post for me to look at please.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Regards,
Stephen

Hi,

Many thanks for the Tekno_Venus folder, that's going to be very useful in tracking down why this issue is occuring.

In terms of your system, it seems to be fine. If you would like to check, run sfc /scannow once more. It should report that it did not detect any integrity violations. If it does, you're all fixed. :)

I would like to try something here, as a little test.

DISM

Please start an Elevated Command Prompt: How to run an elevated command prompt

Copy and paste in

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

and let it complete.

Then upload the CBS folder once more.

Kind regards,
Stephen

The DISM action repaired an component store corruption. I'm running sfc once again en then I'll try to install windows 8.1 again.
I'll let you know the result.

But I think (hope) that the DISM repair action did it......:s14:

Fantastic news!

You're most welcome, glad I could help. :)
