Hi,

After reading a few post online, I'm here to see if anyone can help me.

My initial issue was repetitive updates from windows, that show being successfully downloaded but repeat the download each time I log on! I've tried the fix it tool and a few other things but to no avail. I tried downloading one at a time also, no go.

These are the two downloads causing me headaches:
1- Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656351)
2- Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2600217)

I did a SFC/Scannow and the result was corrupted CBS files.
Thank you for any help you can provide!

Hello Reenie, welcome to Sysnative!

You'll be glad to know that there isn't any issues in your CBS log. The one file that it is complaining about can be safely ignored - it's just a small configuration file that, when altered, gets flagged as corrupt.

For your .NET Framework issues, I would like you to download and run the .NET Framework Repair Tool:

Download: .NET Framework Repair Tool - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Download the file: NetFxRepairTool.exe

Run the tool by double clicking on it. It's very self explanatory and you shouldn't have a problem with using it, but if you are unsure about something, please ask.

After it has finished the repairs, reboot and try to run Windows Update again.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for your assistance with this.
I've tried this solution previously. I tried it again, still does nothing and the those updates still show up after I reboot.
Is there anything else that can be done to stop the madness!

Hi Reenie,

That's a shame! There's plenty left to try though:

Uninstall Software

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and select Control Panel
  2. Click on Programs then click on Uninstall a program
  3. You will now see a list of your installed software, double click on the following one by one to uninstall them:

    • Microsoft .NET Framework 4
  4. Once you have done this, reboot your computer

Hi Tom,

Thanks again for you help.

I'm wondering if there is more than one update that I'm suppose to uninstall as you said 'one by one'.
Is there only one to uninstall or more than one and it was omitted somehow?

Hi Reenie,

Terribly sorry for the confusion. As we often deal with similar problems, we use post templates to make our lives easier by saving ourselves writing the same procedure out over and over again. I thought I had amended the template to apply to this thread but apparently not. There is only one program that I would like you to uninstall and that is Microsoft .NET Framework 4
