PROBLEM: corrupt prncacla.inf file, possibly corrupt CNBJ2530.DPB file

FAILED SOLUTIONS:
-

I first ran the following three commands, all of which did not work to fix the corrupted files:
sfc /scannow
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

CBS file is attached as two parts as follows:
View attachment CBS 1.txt
View attachment CBS 2.txt

-

I ran SFCFix.exe

The result can be viewed in the attached SFCFix1.txt file. View attachment SFCFix1.txt

-

Then I dragged a SFCFix.zip file that I found on the forum from another thread, I think this one [ https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...prncacla-inf-corruptions-windows-8-8-1-a.html ] into SFCFix.exe

The result can be viewed in the attached SFCFix2.txt file. View attachment SFCFix2.txt

Note

The prncacla.inf file previously on the computer was changed from a 17415 version to a 16384 version through the takeown, icacls, and copy method. This did not work, so I used the takeown, icacls, and copy method again to go back from the 16384 version to the 17415 version (copy of the 17415 version in case it did not work). This may explain why the prncacla.inf version is 16384 in the SFCFix2.txt file, instead of the 17415 version.

-

I ran DISM, and it did not fix the corrupted files.

The result can be viewed in the attached dism.txt file. View attachment dism.txt

How can the corrupted files be fixed?

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Please do the following. It may take a couple steps to fix your issue.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Step#2 - SFC Scan
1. Right-click on the Start
w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
sfc /scannow

3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter.
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Right-click on this file and choose Send To...Compressed (zipped folder). Please upload this zipped file CBS.zip to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Items for your next post

2. CBS.txt

The computer still doesn't work, when recovery mode is started is begins by displaying 'preparing', then it states, 'some files are missing. your installation media has these files.' The problem is that the windows version was paid for online, and there is no hard copy of the installation media.

It looks that resolving the problem with CNBJ2530.DPB and prncacla.inf (ran dism, confirmed the files were fixed) did not work to solve this problem.

What is the next step, how can I fix the problem so that instead of saying 'some files are missing', the computer can be recovered.

Can you please provide me details and step-by-step of what didn't work with Option#1? All we are doing here is downloading a file.

Option 1: Downloaded the microsoft file for this option, chose the usb option, it went to estimating time, and then stopped saying it failed.

Option 2 and 3: Downloaded the microsoft file for these options, the pk did not work, perhaps it was oem.

Ok, I tried it. After choosing the ISO file option, it ended with saying "Download did not complete successfully. The download task did not complete. Server execution failed."

Hello BrianDrab, thank you for your help. Yes, I was able to download the ISO file from another computer with the media creation tool. The problem is now solved.
