So recently i tried updating my graphics card not only could i not update through Nvidia but i also could not update through device manager and it says i have a corrupt data base so i uninstalled using DDU and now it says unknown device which i assume is my graphic card and i have tried downloading in safe mode an that didn't work i also saw a thread a while ago this one [SOLVED] - Configuration Registry Database Corrupt but apparently the fix was user specific. My graphics card is a 1050ti btw

Step 1 - Replace Drivers Hive Manually

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download DRIVERS.ZIP and save to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
  3. Now we have the DRIVERS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  5. Right-click on the current DRIVERS file and select rename. Rename it to DRIVERS.bad.
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  6. Take the file from the Drivers folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config

it still failed when i updated through nvidia but when i tried updating through device maneger it said it couldn't find the file and i wouldn't let me select the nvidia drivers

I'm confused by what you are saying, so please do the following, maybe it will shed some light onto it:

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
