Yesterday out of 7 updates only 1 succeeded. I did SFC /scannow and had 1 corrupt file. In the meantime mouse is sometimes inoperative.
I did a system restore to before problem started. I renamed CBS folder and created a new CBS folder. Then ran sfc /scannow and found same corrupt file.
Ran sfcfix and her we are. You folks got me straightened out on my other computer. Hope you can help again. Thankssfc scannow 8.27.20.png

Windows update says "There are no updates available for your computer"
Update History shows 2020-01 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4534310) referenced in post #6 still in the failed column. Do I need to worry about this or should I try it from Microsoft Stand alone catalog ?

Update. Microsoft stand alone installer says KB 4534310 is not applicable to your computer so I suppose that settles that but why it showed up I don't know.
Thanks for the help

Ok. I'll mark this thread as solved.

Take care.
