After I installed VMWare Player 6 (now 7.1) I lost DVDs in system and have missing or bad Manifest files.

Note: Windows 7x64 OEM used. Install.Wim contents compressed tried SFC /scannow...see CBS.log.

Thanks for helping.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

This does not look good at all:
Code:
Seconds executed: 6355
 Found 3048 errors
CSI Manifest Missing Total count: 233
CSI Located Replacement: Invalid (S256H) Total count: 76
CSI Payload File Missing Total count: 2815

I find it really hard to believe that 2815 payload files are missing, unless you have had major HDD crash, something went wrong with the SURT scan, or you have added a COMPONENTS hive from another computer onto this machine. Has any of these occurred?

If no, we really need to check the HDD before continuing.

Warning:: This fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

Warning:: Before doing anything it is a good idea to back up any data/files that are important to you, in case your hard drive is dying. Please see Here

What I recommend from here is to run some HDD diagnostics. Please follow the steps here for SeaTools HDD Diagnostics. Run a Long test and a Short test, then report back the results to this thread.

chkdsk /f scan

  1. Click on the
    Win7Orb_zps4dae3b32.jpg
button. Inside the search box type in CMD
  2. Right click on CMD => Choose Run as Administrator
  3. Inside the Command Prompt windows copy and paste the following commands
    chkdsk /f
  4. Reboot
  5. Download ListChkdskResult.exe (by SleepyDude) from Here
  6. Double click on it to run it. It will take a few seconds to scan, then it will open a Notepad window with the log. Copy and paste the contents of this into your next post please!

Update:
Did not import any Component Hives.
SURT Scan: No Errors System Readiness Tool: Oct. 2014
I have WD Lifeguard, will run it and Chkdsk /r
Already Backup drive

SURT Scan: No Errors System Readiness Tool: Oct. 2014

SURT was the tool that detected all these errors:

Code:
Checking System Update Readiness.
Binary Version 6.1.7601.22471
Package Version 26.0
2015-02-19 11:02

Summary:
Seconds executed: 6355
 Found 3048 errors
CSI Manifest Missing Total count: 233
CSI Located Replacement: Invalid (S256H) Total count: 76
CSI Payload File Missing Total count: 2815

I am afraid at this point a full reinstall of Windows will be your best option. Let me know how chkdsk and the HDD diagnostics went.

Do you know:

1. If I extracted Winsxs folder from Install.wim and put the contents on a Hard drive, do I need to path the source like this: sfc:/scannow /offbootdir=P:|WINDOWS SLIPSTREAMS ISO|GRMCPRXFREO_EN_DVD|winsxs /offwindir=e:\

Just curious?

That will just scan the contents of this folder for corruptions.

I wouldn't recommend copying a WinSxS folder and putting it on your computer, this will cause further issues.

I think you may have misunderstood (?)

I want to try and fix these glitches by doing an SFC fix offline:

sfc /scannow offbootdir=p:[bs]P:\WINDOWS SLIPSTREAMS ISO\GRMCPRXFREO_EN_DVD\winsxs /offwindir=e:[bs]windows

BTW: How to restore [backslash] everytime I press [backslash] I get \ key?

You wont be able to fix all 2815 missing files from an offline repair, this MIGHT work if the image was the exact replica of your HDD, but all these missing files are from 100's of different versions/updates. Is install.wim from the original Windows 7 RTM disc? If yes, you will only be able to repair 1 out of 2815 files with this method, I looked in the log again, only one file is from the original RTM image.

Are you saying that when you press backslash another key comes up?

Yes, when I press [backslash] I get \.

Aside from this, I think it's time to bite the bullet and do a REPAIR INSTALL. In-Place.
