Hey there,

so heres my problem.
i tried to install my Nvidia 1050GTX driver (apperently it was not even installed.) , and it failed .
which was weird, so i tried a different version (an older one), still didnt work, so i tried to do it manually , i extracted the nvidia driver exe and went to the device manager to update the graphic card from there.
then i received this error "Configuration Registry Database Corrupt" which was was pretty strange to me.

i then decide to follow up some stuff i found online .
and i seen that i had lots of update availble but when i tried to update them,

every windows update failed with this error 0x800703e3

it does not matter which update it is everything gives the same error.

Code:
Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - MEDIA - 9/11/2018 12:00:00 AM - 6.0.1.8536 - Error 0x800703e3

Realtek - Net - 10/3/2017 12:00:00 AM - 10.23.1003.2017 - Error 0x800703e3

Razer Inc - HIDClass - 6.2.9200.16464 - Error 0x800703e3

NVIDIA - Display - 26.21.14.3200 - Error 0x800703e3
Intel Corporation - Other hardware - Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - A161 - Error 0x800703e3

so i came to a conclusion that if manually driver update didnt work i guess its something more serious .

i am a tech savy so i tried many things

dsim restore health.
sfc scannow , which did found some problem on the first run but after a restart and doing it again it did not find anything.
chkdsk

ccleaner to remove temps and unused registery
DDU to uninstall perhaps left over graphic drivers.
ResetWUEng
even Windows 10 Update Assistant (upgrade)
adwcleaner

funny thing is i thought perhaps this is a virus , so i installed eset32 and it failed to install his drivers.

so im pretty lost here :)

right now i am running the media creating tools from microsoft and trying to upgrade from there. im not sure it will work.
but in the meantime i uploaded my files.

i came across this forum (sysnative) and seem that people had more or less the same problem and they provided the Drivers Hive and COMPONENTS .

P.S (i'd like some day to be able to read and understand the drivers hive and to spot a problem and repair like u guys do, so i've u guys have a link that u can send me to so i can learn and be abit more clever i'd love that, and explained what u did to my file so i diff the files :) )

thanks alot!

i think the problem lays in the Driver hive or COMPONENTS , but idk how to fix or look at those.

Hi!

Step 1 - Replace Drivers Hive Manually

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download DRIVERS.ZIP and save to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
  3. Now we have the DRIVERS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  5. Right-click on the current DRIVERS file and select rename. Rename it to DRIVERS.bad.
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  6. Take the file from the Drivers folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config

Afterwards, reboot and try updating the driver.

first thing first.
thanks alot. it seems that it worked!!

please explain me what happen and how did u fix it, i want to learn :)

also if u could explain how to look into the Drivers hive that would be great! u can also pm me :)

That is impossible to say. I just tried to load the hive into my registry and it errored out, which means it is corrupt, so I copied it from my virtual machine that I've set-up.

Then I provided it to you. You copied it over.
let me understand .

u took my drivers hive and imported into ur VM registry (with regedit).
it error out, then u exported it and sent it to me.

that it ?!
like windows as fixed it by it self ?

have u done any manipulation on it ?

No, your hive was damaged beyond repair and Windows could not use it.

I had to use my hive, export it and send it to you.
intresting, so what u did basically is just using a clean fresh driver hive ?
this is what u are doing with almost everyone ?

to understand just abit more, it matter which language the windows 10 is ? or what build it is ? to take a fresh drivers hive ?

i mean , if incase this happen again , i want to be able to do it myself, so i'd like to know what should i be doing ?

Yes, everything matters as using the wrong hive can cause severe issues.

There are more than 30 different types of issues with Windows Updates, this is just one of the many types.
