This is my second thread on this forum, so sorry if I posted in the wrong place. Sometimes when I shut down, my computer restarts instead. The second time I shut it down it always stays shut down though. It also immediately wakes back up when I sleep it sometimes, but I am not sure if that is related to the same problem. I am currently running Windows 10 Education Edition. I am not sure what logs/info I should post to help with the process. Thank you for any help.

Hi xilolee, thanks for your help.

My motherboard: Gigabyte B85M-D3H, BIOS Version: F15, BIOS Date: 08/20/2015
In BIOS Features I have:
Bootup NumLock State: Enabled
Fast Boot: Disabled.
I have some options under Windows 8 Features, but since "Other OS" is selected I'm guessing those don't matter.

In Power Management I have:
Power Loading: Auto
Resume by Alarm: Disabled
ErP: Disabled
Soft-Off by PWR-BTTN: Instant-Off
RC6 (Render Standby): Disabled
AC BACK: Always Off
Power On By Keyboard: Disabled
Power On By Mouse: Disabled

I checked my Programs-Uninstall list and don't have On/Off Charge or any Gigabyte program installed. It must be some other problem...

Brand and Model of the PC?

Thanks for your help, Wrench97. My computer was built by a friend, but I can list some system info:
OS Name: Windows 10 Education
Version: 10.0.10586 Build 10586
System Manufacturer and Model: Gigabyte B85M-D3H
Processor: Intel Core i3-4310
BIOS Version/Date: American Megatrends Inc. F15, 8/20/2015
SMBIOS Version: 2.7
Embedded Controller Version: 255.255
BIOS Mode: Legacy

Try disabling Hibernation

To disable Hibernate
Press Windows + X keys to open Power menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)

type command powercfg/h off.

If you want to re-enable later
type command powercfg/h on.

Did you try to use default bios settings?
Even if you didn't modify them, try to load bios default settings (in bios, save & exit menu): Load Optimized Defaults, save & exit setup (or press F10).

I reset to default bios settings and got a pretty big Windows 10 update recently. It didn't really fix the problem. Got another restart today. =(

Hmm lets see if perhaps the system is crashing and automatically restarting on shut down or sleep mode.
Turn off automatic restart lets see if the system goes to a blue screen or hangs on shutdown.

Press the Windows Key and the the X key, In the pop up list Click on System. On the left side toward the bottom click on Advanced system settings >Click on the Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery click on settings> At the bottom under System failure. Uncheck the Automatically restart box. Click OK and Exit.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already tried that earlier when I was trying to fix the problem on my own. I just checked and "Automatically restart" is already unchecked.

Hey, I'm not sure if there are any other suggestions that can help my restart problem, but if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply. I ran the SysnativeBSODCollectionApp and attached the SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip, but the PERFMON System Health Report had an error with the symptom: "A service is reported as having an unexpected error code." The details stated "Service exited with code not equal to 0 or 1077" and under Basic System Checks the Test Group "Abonormally Terminated Services Check" had 4 fails. Do you know how to fix that?

You have installed g.skill ripjawsx F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL (two 4GB sticks: F3-10666CL9-4GBXL) instead of g.skill ripjaws (without x) F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL, that is present in gigabyte QVL... Correct?
Are they seated in the second and fourth slots (starting from the cpu)?

Yes, I have installed g.skill ripjaws F3-10666CL9d-8GBXL (two 4GB sticks). They are seated in the second and fourth slots from the CPU (labeled DDR3_2 and DDR3_1 on the motherboard, respectively).
