CNBJ2530.DPB and prncacla.inf problems; can only run in safe mode

Hi, everyone, I'm having problems with sfc /scannow and DISM.

First off, I'm on Win 8.1, and I cannot fully boot my computer. The best I can do is Safe Mode with Networking (what I'm on now). When I load up my computer, I get a BSoD, with a bad pool header error. The laptop automatically tries to run a diagnostic and fails. I tried to do a system restore, but no luck. Then I found some links telling me to run sfc /scannow and DISM. I found a link instructing me to make a repair.bat file, which I did, but it didn't work (apparently because I'm in safe mode bootup?).

Then found this forum (which seems awesome).

I followed the Guide, ran SFCFix, and got the attached log. Before the command prompt window closed, it said there were problems. I wish I could say exactly what it said, but it closed kinda quickly. Anyway, I try to run sfc /scannow and DISM and get the same errors. (And, it seems like each time I do it, my CBS log shows even more instances of corruptions.)

Any help anyone could be provide would be very much appreciated. Thank you all for reading.

Wait, so I realize now that the log I was supposed to be looking at was the CBS log, not the SFCFix.txt one. I did the second repair method, downloaded the zip file, and it "worked." That is, when i run sfc /scannow, it says "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." But I'm still getting BSoD when I try to restart, still getting the bad pool header error. So now I have no idea what to do, and maybe this is now in the wrong forum. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank you all for reading.

Hello and welcome to Sysnative,

Looking at your CBS log, it shows that SFCFix and DISM didn't manage to fix the corruption:

Code:
(p) CSI Payload Corrupt amd64_prncacla.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.16384_none_9590ba64d5b91f79\Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB
Repair failed: Missing replacement payload.

However, since you used Repair Method 2 and manually replaced the file, and SFC is reporting back clean, you don't need to worry about the corruption any more.

Since you still have BSOD problems, I recommend you start follow the BSOD Posting Instructions and start a thread in the BSOD sub forum.

Regards,
Stephen

Thank you! I've actually been trying to do that, but the file collection app is taking forever (I let it run overnight, as it was taking so long, and it's still not done). I'm guessing it shouldn't take quite that long, but I'll try to figure it out and post in that forum. Thanks again!

The app shouldn't take that long. It's probably hanging on "Collecting System Info", where is uses the MSInfo32 program to obtain some system information. It does have a habit of hanging at that stage sometimes.

If you cannot run it at all, at least zip up the contents of your C:\Windows\Minidump folder and attach it to your post in the BSOD forum.
