Civil Asset Forfeiture has to be dealt with once and for all and stopped in the US unless a criminal conviction occurs.
It is an absolute disgrace in the United States of America that you can be travelling by plane, train, or in this sad, but awesome-outcome case, by car from Texas to California, get stopped for allegedly following a truck too closely and the 'felonious' and STUPID 'crime' of driving a few miles per hour UNDER the Interstate Highway speed limit (likely 70-75 mph). God forbid.
The Nevada State Trooper finds fault with both actions and notes it on audio, pulls the guy over, then puts his FAKE face on and lies through his teeth to the retired combat marine by actually congratulating him on driving so safely. "Trooper of the Year award" this Trooper does not come close to earning. I personally would fire him and take his pension away for this debacle and other actions in this video.
The Trooper knows what he is doing is WRONG and says as much to his superior but lacks the backbone to say so directly.
Furthermore, Nevada state legislators are sick of this asset forfeiture BS and have passed laws to severely limit it and/or end it, but the State Trooper does an end-run around the Nevada laws by calling a federal DEA agent who tells him to just take the money under US seizure laws.
The dog "hit" on the $86,000 currency is a damn joke. The Trooper throws the bag with the money into an empty field and the so-called drug dog makes a B-line directly for it. Testing done frequently over the years show that up to 100% of all US Currency is tainted with drugs primarily via transfer alone as it passes through banks.
Remember, the marine was not arrested, has never been convicted of a crime and never even received a traffic ticket in this case.
